Rob Font Talks About His Journey To UFC 175
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.02.2014

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Rob Font (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) spoke about his upcoming UFC debut at UFC 175. He will fight George Roop (15-10-1 MMA, 5-6 MMA on the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1 this Saturday. It will air from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Part of the preliminary fights will also stream on UFC Fight Pass.

On how he got into MMA: "I was working for Pizza Hut and I pulled up to a house and there were two guys rolling around on the mats in the garage. The garage was open, and they came and gave me the money and I asked what they were doing because I didn't understand it. They kind of broke it down that they were doing jiu-jitsu and wrestling and some judo."

On starting at a local dojo in Tampa: "He explained how it all works and invited me to come down to their school and check it out. About a week and a half, two weeks later I went down and checked it out. I got a free trail then about a week later I signed up then did about five months of training non-stop and got the basics down."

On his UFC debut: "Once I got the name I got real excited. They gave me George Roop and I'm going to go in there and having an exciting fight with the guy and we're going to fight on FOX Sports 1. I'm happy it worked out that way."
