UPDATED: WSOF Draws 781,000 Viewers for NBC Debut
Posted by Dan Plunkett on 07.10.2014

World Series of Fighting set another ratings record on Saturday with the promotion's NBC debut. As reported by MMA Payout reporter Jason Cruz, the Saturday afternoon show drew 781,000 viewers, shattering WSOF's previous high of 365,000 viewers for its June 21 event on NBC Sports Network. The show received a strong clearance rate, being broadcast by 99% of NBC affiliates.

It was the first live mixed martial arts event on NBC, and the first MMA programming to air on the network since Strikeforce aired a weekly highlights show in a late night slot from 2008 to 2009. Viewership for Strikeforce on NBC ranged from around 500,000 up to 1.1 million.

WSOF performed below past NBC boxing specials in the same time slot. A December 2012 match between Steve Cunningham and Tomasz Adamek drew 1.6 million viewers, while Cunningham's match against Tyson Fury in April 2013 attracted 1.2 million viewers.

World Series of Fighting's next NBC special is scheduled for December 27.

Update: A previous version of this article stated WSOF 11 drew 906,000 viewers.
