He'll have to appear this month...
Chael Sonnen is being compelled to appear at the NSAC's next meeting to address his drug test failures for UFC 175. Nevada Deputy Attorney General Chris Eccles told MMAjunkie via email that Sonnen has is required to appear at the meeting after he waived his right to a hearing.
"Mr. Sonnen must personally appear and testify under oath at the commission's July 23 disciplinary hearing," said the email. "He is expected to answer questions about the prohibited substances detected in his system as a result of the out-of-competition tests performed on May 24 and June 5."
Sonnen faces a fine of up to $250,000, formal suspension, costs related to his case, and the requirement he provide a clean drug test should he reapply for a license to fight in Nevada. He tested positive for anastrozole, clomiphene, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), human growth hormone (HGH) and recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO) before his scheduled bout with Vitor Belfort at UFC 175 and then retired. He then took a second test on June 5 which he also failed.
Sonnen has said he doesn't dispute any of findings against him, but asked for his cooperation to be considered along with the fact that he didn't compete on any of the baned substances.
