Demetrious Johnson To Fight Chris Cariaso at UFC 177
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.15.2014

Yahoo Sports reports that Demetrious Johnson will defend his flyweight title against Chris Cariaso at UFC 177. It happens at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California on August 30. The card features a main event for the bantamweight title between TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao.

Johnson is on a six-fight undefeated streak as he beat Ali Bagautinov in the main event of UFC 174 in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 14. This was his fifth consecutive title fight win and his fourth title defense. Since UFC 176 was canceled, Johnson will appear in two of the last three PPVs.

Cariaso has won his last three fights after a two-fight losing streak. He beat Illiarde Santos, Danny Martinez in February and Louis Smoka in May. He beat Josh Ferguson in his July 11, 2012 flyweight debut but lost to John Moraga by submission and Jussier Formiga by decision. He's 17-5 in his MMA career and 8-4 in his UFC/World Extreme Cagefighting run.
