Bellator Sticking With Weekly Format For Fall Season
Posted by Dan Plunkett on 07.17.2014

In the latest edition of Bellator MMA: Uncut, newly christened Bellator President Scott Coker revealed the promotion will continue with its traditional weekly format for the upcoming 11th season. The season kicks off on September 5th with an event featuring Pat Curran vs. Patricio Freire, as well as fights with "King Mo" Lawal, Cheick Kongo, and Bobby Lashley.

"Okay, so we're going to go on the 5th and then we're going to go 10 weeks straight," Coker said. "And then next year, we'll reformat." Coker added the company was looking to add some fighters to the roster to make it "more robust."

411mania has confirmed with Bellator the events would remain on Friday throughout the season, although there will be fewer events than past seasons. Bellator MMA's three seasons on Spike TV have featured 11, 12, and 11 events respectively.
