Dennis Burmudez Says He Wants A Featherweight Title Shot
Posted by Joseph Lee on 07.27.2014

MMA Junkie reports that Dennis Burmudez wants a featherweight title shot. He has seven wins in a row (including last night's UFC on FOX 12 submission win over Clay Guida), two "Performance of the Night" bonuses in a row and five overall fight night awards.

He said: "Realistically, I want the title shot. I've got a lot of wins. I've been finishing guys. I'm an exciting fighter."

UFC hasn't commented who's next, but UFC 179 will feature a rematch between champion Jose Aldo (24-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and challenger Chad Mendes (16-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC). Bermudez said if he can't get a title fight, "Whoever they give me (is fine)."

The fighter has wins over names like Max Holloway, Steven Siler and Jimy Hettes. While he won't get a title shot right away, UFC President Dana White has noticed his progress. White said: "That kid just keeps looking nastier and nastier every time he fights. He gets better and better. His performance tonight against a guy like Clay Guida said it all. Clay is one of those tough, durable guys that no matter who he fights, he's in the fight. Tonight, Bermudez finished him. He looked unbelievable."
