He's not impressed...
Georgi Karakhanyan spoke with MMAjunkie about his featherweight title loss to Rick Glenn at WSOF 10 in June. Check out the highlights:
On the loss: "I couldn't do anything about it. It was something I couldn't control. I tried my best in the second round, but it didn't work out, and the doctors had to stop it. It happened right when I took him down and I was passing his half guard. I could feel something was wrong with my ribs. When we landed, maybe I landed in an awkward way or his knee hit my ribs. But as soon as I was going for a guillotine, I was having problems breathing, so I went to the mount and took his back, and as soon as I took his back, I could tell something was wrong. I was breathing very heavy, and it was very hard, so I went for an armbar, and I couldn't finish it because every time I tried to hip up, it was just not letting me breath."
On Glenn: "I don't think he's that good. I think he should have finished me in the first round. He had his chance. He didn't finish me, and going into the third round, it was hard to breath, and the doctor said, ‘You can't fight.' I feel like I was dominating. It's something that's very frustrating. Even going out in the second round, I wanted to finish him. I've been in fights where I was at 50 percent, and I came out with the victory. So I was thinking I was going to catch him, and it would be the same thing."
On having to earn his way back into the title picture: "I'm not going to complain. I'm not going to say anything. If they fight, I feel Palmer will go through Rick Glenn very easy. I'll come off of one win, and I'll fight Palmer or Glenn. It's not my call, but whoever the winner is, I'm going to get that belt no matter what. I'm not taking this fight as a loss. I'm just taking it as something that never happened to me and I've got to deal with it."
On a potential rematch: "I just don't think he's that tough. When you look at a fighter's face and you hit him as hard as you can, you can tell if he's going to come back. He's not one of those fighters. All I've got to do it punch him until he goes out, so that's my opinion about him."
