Is it helping MMA?
MMAjunkie spoke with some Bellator fighters and asked them whether random drug testing has been helping the issue of performance-enhancing drugs in MMA. Check out a couple of highlights:
Will Brooks: "The more ways we … eliminate drugs and make more ways of testing, I think the guys in the background who are supplying the drugs … are finding ways to beat that test or find ways to cover it up. I just think it's going to be a battle for as long as sports are around."
Tito Ortiz: "I hope the sport is clean. When I first started, it was a lot cleaner than it is now, when you're just making it legal for guys to do (testosterone-replacement) therapy. I think they just got rid of it, but at the same when you're saying it's OK, that sends a bad message to the fans, to the kids who are trying to be professional fighters. Hopefully, one day, it's is completely clean. I hope they keep doing random testing. I'm for it 100 percent, and I hope they keep doing it."
