UFC Says That There Will Be Consequences For Jones/Cormier Fight
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 08.04.2014

The UFC's chief legal officer says that the promotion isn't pleased about Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier's brawl today at the UFC 178 media event. Kirk Hendrick issued a statement (courtesy of MMAjunkie) stating that the UFC will be taking action depending on what the NSAC does.

"This is certainly not a proud moment for the UFC organization," Hendrick said. "We expect more from our athletes, especially these two gentlemen, who are very well-trained and highly educated professionals. Their actions were clearly a violation of the UFC's code of conduct."

He continued on to say, "There are going to be ramifications. Whether you're the champion, or this is your first fight in the UFC, there are going to be ramifications from the UFC for these actions...We are going to reserve our right to penalize both fighters after the commission has made a decision. We expect more from our athletes, and we are prepared to levy sanctions to reinforce the appropriate behavior."

The two fighters face off at UFC 178 on September 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
