Chael Sonnen Planning To Go Ahead With Metamoris 4
Posted by Joseph Lee on 08.07.2014

MMA Junkie reports that even though the Nevada State Athletic Commission threatened him with a fine, Chael Sonnen is planning to go ahead with his appearance at Metamoris 4 this Saturday. The grappling match will be against Andre Galvao at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

This follows his recent hearing and suspension by the NSAC. He failed two drug tests due to several banned substances and then announced his retirement. On July 23, the NSAC not only suspended him for two years, but forced him to pay for his failed tests and educate other fighters on the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs. If he competes while suspended, he could get large fines.

There has been confusion, however, on what exactly he's banned from doing. While the NSAC says it covers wrestling, Sonnen's lawyer Ross Goodman claims it doesn't. Sonnen has now hinted on Twitter that he plans on going ahead with his appearance. His jiu-jitsu coach Fabiano Scherner also said to MMA Fighting that Sonnen is going to LA with the intention of competing.

Metamoris has yet to officially make an announcement, but Sonnen vs Galvao is still being advertised on the website and social media accounts.
