“If you want to actually fight, let’s fight.”
MMAjunkie Radio recently interviewed UFC middleweight Brad Tavares, who faces Tim Boetsch at UFC Fight Night 47. The fight card is set for August 16 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Tavares laid out the challenge to Boetsch to "fight him" and not try to grind him out. Below are some highlights.
Tavares on challenging Boetsch to fight: "I think he'll try to grind me out. So Tim Boetsch, if you're listening to this or somebody relays it to you, if you want to actually fight, let's fight."
Tavares on hoping Boetsch will not come to lay and pray him: "I know his back is against the wall. He's been on a bit of a slump as far as losing the past few fights, and I think he'll just come out and do what it takes to win. I'm hoping he doesn't come out and just try to dry hump my leg and take me down, that wall and stall and lay and pray. At the end of the day, if he wants to stand in the middle of the cage and trade with me, I'm all for it."
Tavares on being ready for Boetsch: "I feel like since I've gotten to the UFC, I've been fighting a bunch of tough guys, and it's no joke to me to get to the UFC and stay in the UFC. I've been watching Boetsch for years. He fought a personal friend of mind in Kendall (Grove), and he beat Kendall. But he's been on my radar. I've asked for this fight before and haven't gotten it. But I got it now, and I'm ready for it."
