WSOF 12 Fighter Jimmy Spicuzza's Goal is to Work Kids with Anger Issues
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 08.09.2014

MMAjunkie Radio recently interviewed MMA fighter Jimmy Spicuzza earlier this week, ahead of his WSOF 12 bout with Lucas Montoya on the prelims. Below are some highlights:

Spicuzza on wanting to work with troubled kids: "That's truly what I want to do – working with kids on the weekends about anger issues, or kids that don't have a father figure to show them what's right and wrong."

Spicuzza on how he makes extra cash by fixing cell phones: "I was between fights and I was trying to think, ‘What's something I could do to generate a little extra cash?' So maybe when I get to the point where I'm making a good amount of money fighting, and this could supplement that so I don't have to get up so early. And I was like, ‘Everyone has a cell phone, and everyone breaks their phone, and more people are going to keep buying phones.' I watched hundreds of videos on YouTube and taught myself how to do it."

Spicuzza's thoughts on Montoya: "I've watched some footage on him. I'm never one of those guys that gets caught up in watching too much because I think you have a tendency of putting your opponent up on a pedestal, and then you worry about what they want to do instead of what you want to do. I know he's primarily a ground guy, but from the footage that I've watched, he's a gamer. We've devised a gameplan where we believe I'm the stronger fighter. We've been working on that since. I'm very confident in my ground game, and Robert Drysdale has helped me take my ground game to the next level. If that's where it goes, I'm completely confident there, too."
