Joseph Duffy Returns at Cage Warriors 70
Posted by Larry Csonka on 08.14.2014

According to MMAjunkie.com, Joseph Duffy (10-1) returns Saturday at Cage Warriors 70; he meets Damien Lapilus (9-3-1) in his first MMA fight in three years. Duffy, the last man to defeat the UFC's Conor McGregor, had the following to say about his return…

On Being Motivated By The Recent UFC Event in Ireland: "Seeing how well those lads were getting on, it leaves some questions in your mind – ‘What if I stayed?' So I would definitely say that was a big part of it."

On Turning to Boxing: "I was still planning on going back to Cage Warriors," he said. "Once the hand healed up and I started back training, I was back grappling and wrestling, and I started working my boxing with one of the trainers in the gym, and he asked me if I'd ever thought of giving pro boxing a go. It all stemmed from there. I thought I can give it a go, and if worse comes to worst, come back to MMA with improved striking."

On Conor McGregor: "Conor's the person at the forefront of Irish MMA," he said. "That's the whole reason the UFC came to Dublin; it was all sold around Conor. He's holding the flag for Ireland at the minute, and hopefully push it all the way to the belt."
