Alexander Gustafsson Will Not Accept Any Other Fights Before A Title Shot
Posted by Joseph Lee on 08.14.2014

Bloody Elbow reports that during UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani revealed that Alexander Gustafsson will not accept any more fights before he gets his title shot. He lost a chance for a rematch with Jon Jones due to an injury. Daniel Cormier was named as his replacement, but the Jones was injured and the fight was pushed back to January. Gustafsson believes he should get the shot then and not Cormier. Cormier was guaranteed that he would keep his shot due to the hype and trash talk with Jones.

Helwani said: "Let's just say that Alexander Gustafsson is not happy right now. I spoke to his manager and told me he'll be ready to fight by January 3rd. He'll do whatever he can to not get passed by and won't accept any other fights before his chance at the title."

Jones fought twice in 2013 and 2014. It could be another 4-6 months after the fight with Cormier (if he retains) before Gustafsson can get a shot, and he's only fought once since losing to Jones the first time.
