St. Preux offers advice to college athletes…
Recently, UFC light heavyweight fighter Ovince St. Preux paid a visit to the University of Maine's football team on Thursday (August 14). St. Preux is set to headline UFC Fight Night 47 on Saturday against Ryan Bader. Below are some highlights of St. Preux's seminar with the football team.
St. Preux on his background in college football and giving back: "This is my background right here, and anything I can do to actually come help is great. MMA, I'm not going to lie: Compared to football, it's a brutal sport. I've done the two-a-day practices; I've been there. They've got to break you down to build you up."
St. Preux on his days as a football player in college: "These were some of the most important days of my life in terms of becoming the person I am now. It was good to come back and come out here and meet some of the guys and reminisce a little bit."
St. Preux on staying in shape and not doing things halfway: "You always get hurt when you're doing something halfway. You never hurt anybody going full speed, and you could see (the players) nodding like, ‘You do have a point there.' Also, in order to go full-speed, you've got to make sure you're in shape. To do that, you have to take care of your body."
