Mark Hunt Reveals That He Almost Walked Out Of The UFC
Posted by Joseph Lee on 08.18.2014

In an interview with The Sunday Star in New Zealand (via Bloody Elbow, Mark Hunt revealed that at one point he almost walked out of the UFC.

Hunt recently started some speculation when he tweeted: "Not my choice guys but going from being exited at the prospects of the future of fighting to being unemployed in a day lol this sucks." There were some who thought it was an attempt to rile up his fans while others wondered if he had been released from the UFC or decided to retire.

He explained in the publication: "When I started, it was all about money. Now I don't care. It was kinda backward when I started. I love the sport, I love fighting."

According to the Star, he wanted a three fight contract and UFC wanted eight fights. They eventually settled on six after the tweet.

Hunt added: "She brought me back to reality. I didn't make an emotional decision, I made a decision based on business. I nearly made the biggest mistake of my life. I could have never fought again. I am glad things worked out and I am glad to have UFC as my employers."
