A month after stopping thieves...
MMA Junkie reports that Mayura Dissanayake got an eighteen-second KO in his latest MMA fight, the first after he took down a group of thieves last month.
He is a Houston gas station attendant and was called "The Karate Clerk" by the media for helping a co-worker that came back from the bank and was attacked by a group of criminals. The video showed Dissanayake using punches and kicks and eventually went viral.
He said that he had six years of martial arts training before the incident. He started with Chinese kickboxing technique Sanda, which he learned growing up in Sri Lanka. He started MMA after moving to Houston two years ago.
His latest fight was at Savarese Promotion's MMA and Muay Thai card, on Saturday in Houston. After some low kicks, he finished Jaime Garcia with a counter left hand and then a few more punches which led to the stoppage.
