WSOF Launching Amateur Fight Series in 2015
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 08.28.2014

World Series of Fighting will reportedly launch an amateur fight series in 2015. President Ray Sefo announced that the promotion is going to start promoting a "US National Amateur Division" starting next year.

Sefo stated on the announcement: "As we continue to grow our company and our roster at World Series of Fighting, we believe it's important to be working to identify future stars of the sport. This new division will allow us to do exactly that, as we seek to build on a grassroots level. This will allow us to help promising young fighters grow their entire career under the World Series of Fighting banner."

The division will reportedly be divided into four regional sections: East, Mountain, South, and West. WSOF is still working out the details on when the first amateur event will take place. Sefo added that selected "winners" will later make their pro MMA debuts for live WSOF fights on the NBC Sports Network.
