Renan Barao Off UFC 177, Joe Soto Set to Replace Him
Posted by Jeffrey Harris on 08.29.2014

The UFC has announced that former bantamweight champion Renan Barao has been pulled from his scheduled title bout with champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 177. Barao reportedly became ill during his weight cut and was forced to withdraw from the bout.

The UFC will still put on a title bout for the card. Former Bellator featherweight champion Joe Soto has been granted the title shot against TJ Dillashaw. Soto was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut for the preliminary card against Anthony Birchak.

As of now, UFC 177 will still go on as scheduled on Saturday, August 30. The main card will be broadcast live on PPV, and the prelims will be shown on Fox Sports 1.
