Duane Ludwig Doesn't Think Joe Soto Deserved A Title Fight
Posted by Joseph Lee on 09.01.2014

In an interview with ShootMedia (via MMA Junkie), T.J. Dillashaw's coach Duane "Bang" Ludwig" said he didn't think Joe Soto deserved a shot at the title.

He said: "In me, there was some question because, one, Joe Soto is not deserving of a UFC title shot, period. I think it waters down a little bit of the mystique of the UFC title. So I suggested that the fight still take place just not for the belt."

Dillashaw had no problem with the fight and eventually defended his UFC bantamweight title successfully with a fifth-round stoppage. Ludwig's interview happened hours before the event. He also talks about how the fight was eventually made, and he thinks there may be more to the story of Renan Barao being forced out.

He added: "In the back of his mind, I do think that Barao knew he was up against someone tougher than he realized."
