Find out how..
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Joe Lauzon (23-9 MMA, 10-6 UFC) says that the extra money from winning bonuses in the UFC changed his life. He's earned bonuses in 75% of his fights and is tied with Anderson Silva for the most awards in UFC history. He got his first when he knocked out Jens Pulver at UFC 63. He will next fight Michael Chiesa (11-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) on Saturday at UFC Fight Night: Jacare vs Mousasi. It happens at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut, airing at 7 PM ET on Fox Sports 1.
On if he tries to win bonuses: "I never thought, ‘I have to win this bonus'. It's just that the way I like to fight and perform, it just lends itself to winning bonuses."
On how the money has helped: "It definitely helped having extra money to deal with this," Joe Lauzon says. "With hospital bills and health insurance, it's been really tough, and we've spent way too much money on all that. But I would trade it all to have Joey healthy and happy. All the bonuses definitely helped."
On his reaction to getting his first bonus: "I'm getting what? What are you handing me?"
