Dan Henderson Speaks on Upcoming Fight with Anderson Silva

Hendo says he wants to fight in the clinch...

Dan Henderson was recently quoted on Brawl Sports regarding his fight with UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva at UFC 82:

"I'm excited. I'm ready to go kick his ass. Style-wise, I'm just a bad fight for him. He's very tough, very talented, but he hasn't fought anybody like me. My strength is the clinch game, and I don't get out of position there to allow strikes. That's what he thrives on - guys that are out of position and not very good in that clinch. For me, that's where I'm going to beat him up, and if he gets there with me, I'm going to be taking him down and beating him up on the ground."

If Henderson truly does want this fight to end up on the ground, Silva could be in a for a long night. Though one wonders how former champion Rich Franklin feels about Henderson's strategy of looking to clinch.

UFC 82 is scheduled for March 1 in Columbus, Ohio.

I want to fight this bout in the clinch...hmmmm. Isn't that what Rich Franklin said before his bout with Silva?

I really couldn't care less who wins this fight, I love them both to much, Anderson Silva is my favourite fighter in the UFC, but if Dan wins then he definitely will have earned it. Can't wait.

This is the most annitcipated fight ever. For the first time we will have a legitimate #1 and #2 going at it. If Silva wins he is alone at the top of the pound for pound list. If hendo wins I hope is sets up a series of matches between the two.

This is good in theory. Henderson needs to fight on the inside and stay out of the ranged damage of Silva's long limbs. However, Silva's had to deal with that strategy in every one of his fights, and will likely be ready for it. Still, Hendo by Chonan heel hook.
