The up and coming star speaks on why hardcore fans should see the movie and what it is like to work with a guy from a Janet Jackson video!
Sean Faris, star of the upcoming mixed martial arts movie Never Back Down, distributed by Summit Entertainment, was present at the Elite XC Challenge series in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Sean gave 411Mania an exclusive video interview describing the new film and explaining why he thinks die hard MMA fans will enjoy it. You can check it out below as well as a description of the movie which opens on March 14th, 2008.
Set against the action-packed world of Mixed Martial Arts, NEVER BACK DOWN is the story of Jake Tyler, a tough kid who leads with his fists, and, often, with his heart. Jake Tyler, played by Sean Faris, is the new kid in town with a troubled past. He has recently moved to Orlando, Florida with his family who has relocated to support his younger brother's shot at a professional tennis career. Jake was a star athlete on the football team at home, but in this new city he is an outsider with a reputation for being a quick tempered brawler.
Making an attempt to fit in, at the invitation of a flirtatioous classmate, Baja (Amber Heard) Jake goes to a party where he is unwittingly pulled into a fight with a bully named Ryan McDonald (Cam Gigandet). While he is defeated and humiliated in the fight, a classmate introduces himself to Jake and tells him about the sport known as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He sees a star in Jake and asks that he meet with his mentor, Jean Roquoa, played by Djimon Jounsou (BLOOD DIAMON, IN AMERICA).
It is immediately apparant to Jake that MMA is no street fighting, but rather an art form he wants to master. Roqua will take Jake under his wing, but it is up to Jake to find the patience, discipline, willingness and reason within him to succeed. For Jake, there is much more at stake than mere victory. His decision will not just settle a score; it will define who he is.
This movie is going to be a fucking mess !! And totally nothing close to reality the sense of anything MMA !!
Sorry Triple back flips and matrix type moves are not in Prde, UFC, Elite XC , Strke Force , Rage Cage , Kind of the Cage or any other indy company

eh, Im always a fan of fight movies, I will admit I loved the Mortal Kombat movies, I like things by Jackie Chan, Toni Jaa (spelling corrections please), Jet Li, and what have you. Yeah it may not be a very good showing for people wanting to see a MMA movie, but it may be fun. I wanted to see a movie about wrestling that wasn't just a documentary, and all us wrestling fans had was "Ready To Rumble". Yeah it was funny as hell, but not the wrestling movie I wanted. Like music fans have "Spinal Tap", atleast they got "Rock Star" too, lol.

Someone get the reels of this film, turn them sideways, and jam them up the backside of anyone associated with producing, financing, and supporting it. Gary Shaw is low, pure scum. Dana better pull a Vince and put him out of business right quick.
