In Jersey this Friday and three more title bouts set for Connecticut in May!
With its New Jersey event days away, the IFL announced some of the fights scheduled for its May 16th card in Uncasville Connecticut. It's headlined by three title fights featuring Roy Nelson, Ryan Schultz and newly crowned middleweight champ Ryan McGivern.
After successfully defending his heavyweight title against Fabiano Scherner earlier this year, Roy Nelson will put his title on the line once again, this time against Branden Lee Hinkle. Hinkle last fought in July of 2007 beating Roman Zentsov.
After winning the title in a shocking upset over Chris Horodecki, Schultz successfully defended his title against John Gunderson earlier this year. He returns in May to defend his belt for a second time against another upstart in his own right in Deividas Taurosevicius. This will be "DT's" first fight in 2008 as he brings a six-fight win streak into the bout with him.
The third title fight pits Ryan McGivern against Dan Miller. McGivern won his title against Matt Horwich in the first IFL event of the year while this will be Dan Miller's second fight in the IFL. He debuted to a first round submission victory over Dave Phillips. He also carries a six-fight undefeated streak into the bout with him.
As for the team bouts on this card, there will be two new teams debuting in the IFL. Team Bomb Squad, a camp based out of the Northeast, will be facing Mario Sperry's World Class Fight Center. The other camp battle pits Team Quest against another new team in Team Prodigy, based out of Ohio.
