Dana White Comments On Kalib Starnes/Nate Quarry Fight
Posted by Dustin James on 04.20.2008
How did the UFC's president feel about this fight?
During last night's UFC 83 PPV, Kalib Starnes fought Nate Quarry in a fight that saw Starnes "backing away" from Quarry almost the entire fight. Towards the end of the fight Quarry even started mocking Starnes by doing the "running man" among other things. When the fight was over, Starnes even got into a verbal war with Quarry's corner men as well.
At the conclusion of the PPV, Dana White commented on Starnes performance:
"It takes two guys to fight. Nate is the only one to show. If I was fighting in my home country, I'd rather get knocked out than run around like that. I think he'll wake up tomorrow and wish he fought a different fight."
In the past, the UFC has released fighters based on poor performances on PPV.
This isnt the first time hes done this. Look at all his other fights. Kalib is a pussy. That one fight hes like "oo my rib hurts i cant go on" and all the fights Ive seen hes run away from the other guy. Last nights fight was pretty bad. He should join the track team hed do pretty good running laps.

I knew he would comment on this fight. Oh well, Starnes proved he is shit, and Quarry does a GREAT dirty elephant style

You'll never see Kalib Starnes fight in the UFC again. Thank goodness.

You know you did a crappy performance when the Canadian crowd turns on you to cheer for the American

That's the kindest, most reflective Dana White comment I've ever heard. I expected Starnes to be ripped to shreds for his performance.

He should be known henceforth as KALIB "THE COWARD" STARNES.
What I want to know is, how much did that punk get paid for his shameless display of COWARDICE to the world! Anyone have any idea?

I don't know about Kalib fighting in the women's division cuz it seems like he could run pretty fast and they wouldn't be able to keep up as well!

No, no, Starnes' new nickname is The Running Man. By gum, that boy earned it.

Nate Quarry killed me with the "Rocky 4" speech after the fight.."I'm you can change, and I can change...."

Rumor has it that starnes wanted out of his contract, so he intentionally backed off!
If he signs with elite , then we know the reason why!

"Rumor has it that starnes wanted out of his contract, so he intentionally backed
off!"
If that's right, then his bright idea for getting out of his contract was making himself look like a pussy by making his own country turn against him on a night when he was their favourite, by deciding to piss away all their cheers and respect and support away, not to mention every MMA fan, maybe other fighters.
Yeah, that's brilliant. Elite would be fools not to sign Starnes. Laughing all the way to the bank...
...Crying all the way home.

I watched the fight again... and I now see what Kalib Starnes was trying to do. He was trying to be like Jesus. Although he may have not openly admited this, post fight, his actions have brought to light the "poor" conditions that fighters incur with UFC contracts ie. lack of medical coverage. He so whole heartedly believes in this that he is willing to Martyr his career in MMA. His complete lack of offense during the fight furthers this theory... he didn't want to hurt Nate Quarry. I was pissed off about his performance on UFC83 but you have to give him credit for willingly ruining his carrer on live television. The truth is he shouldn't fight anymore. He should work for an insurance company working with fighters, promotion companies and Athletic commissions so that fighters can have a better medical coverage. There are so many people out there right now crucifying Starnes without realizing that he may be the Messiah of Fighters.

That fight reminded me of the Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie, when they're singing brave, brave Sir Robin (Kalib) he bravely ran away. He bravely ran away away he bravely ran away. Rofl, sheesh what a wuss.
