Chuck Liddell Wanted To Fight At UFC 85 Despite Injury
Posted by Dustin James on 05.04.2008

During a recent interview with ESPN The Magazine, former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell confirmed that he still wanted to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in June despite a torn hamstring. Below is a direct quote made by Liddell during the interview:

"I was going to fight, too. But then [Dana] White called and said to forget it, to heal up and come back 100 percent."

shows how much Dana hangs off poor chuck's balls. he can let any fighter go in with any injury but when his man-stalked boyfriend gets hurts, he says NAY.

I'm sry, lemme rephrase that.... Fighters who wanted to fight injured got the go ahead. If Liddell wants to fight then let him fight.

Smartest thing dana has done in a long time

Why would you want to fight hurt? So when you lose you can say it's not your fault?

so in wwe when wrestlers want to go out and "fight" hurt and risk there well being, its cried and booed upon because vince isn't taking action to ensure the well being of his talent when they don't make the "correct choice" themselves..

Dana White makes the reverse choice by making sure his fighter / talent doesn't go in to a -real- fighting contest while hurt and he's the bad guy ?

First off, this isn’t the WWE, so don’t even try to make the comparison. Apples and oranges.

Second, Dana has publicly stated time and again that he doesn’t want his guys fighting hurt. Why do guys want to fight even though they are hurt? Because they probably don’t think it is that big of a deal and have such a fighting spirit that it really bothers them to pull out of a fight.

Dana was right on about this one, and all the other times he has told guys not to fight injured.

I think Chuck need think twice because Rashad would knock him out in minute, he too strong than Tito, Rampage, even Brock Lesnar! It's true story when O'reiley speak for himself.

Kuch, I agree that Dana made the right call..

that was the whole point of my message.

However I disagree that my comparison is flawed simply because wwe is in it.

two big company's, two big promoters, two pools of talent that want to go out and do there highly athletic jobs at the risk of extra injury and the difference is the man at the top of each promotion.

Vince allows injured performers to go out and risk extra injury
('Taker, Mysterio both had -Serious- well known injury's and performed when they shouldn't have)

Dana does not allow fighters to go at it while hurt..
(as best we know)

Dana made the right call..
But the situations aren't so apple vs orange.
(the company's are, but the situations are not)

The situation is apples and oranges, in the ufc people really get hurt. WWE is more of a soap opera than a sport.
