Update on "JZ" Calvancante's DREAM 3 Absence

Was his inability to replace Aoki in the Lightweight Grand Prix related to more than mere paperwork?
It was reported last week that Gesias "JZ" Calvancante would not be taking the injured Shinya Aoki's place in the DREAM Lightweight Grand Prix due to a failure to come to terms with the DREAM organization. Aoki and Calvancante recently fought to a decision at the DREAM 2 event which saw the rainbow-tighted Japanese fighter walk away the victor. The promotion's rules state if the winner is unable to advance the loser will take his place.
411Mania has learned from a source at American Top Team that the primary factor involved in Calvancante's inability to fight at DREAM 3 was injury-based. Fans may recall the young Brazilian's knee being taped in his bout against Aoki. Apparently the knee will require rehab and it was felt even a win at DREAM 3, on May 11th, would not allow "JZ" enough time to properly recover and prepare for competition.
No official replacement for Aoki or Calvancante has been named to act as an opponent against Katsuhiko Nagata in the DREAM 3 Semi-Final Round.
It seems like Aoki is still in the tournament, atm he is scheduled to face Nagata at Dream 4, the winner permitting no injuries would then fight a month later at Dream 5.
