Spike TV To Air Chuck Liddell Special On Same Night As EliteXC On CBS
Posted by Dustin James on 05.07.2008

Spike TV has announced that they will air a 3 hour homage to Chuck Liddell on the same night EliteXC will make their debut on CBS. First they will air "Ultimate Knockouts 4", which features some of Liddell's most memorable MMA fights. Spike will then air an hour long documentary entitled "Ultimate Iceman: Chuck Liddell", which chronicles the career of Liddell thus far. After that they will air "Liddell vs. Silva: UFC Unleashed Special Edition", which will feature the Wanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell fight from UFC 79.

Hmmm, old matches that we've all seen countless times or live ones on MMA's first push into prime-time Network...

Competing brands or not- Network airtime is good for the sport. If anything- the UFC should have a bottom scroll asking viewers to turn to CBS.

Chuck's still one of my favorite fighters, but he's not as nice to look at as Gina Carano. =D

Why would you try to compete with a sister station airing the same type of programming? Doesn't CBS own Spike TV?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't all of that stuff on or will be on DVD? I think the UFC loses this one.

What the? Look I know the UFC and Elite XC are in competition but that fight card is huge for all of MMA Dana White puzzles me quite often. I think Dana is pissed because someone else pulled off something he couldn't which is primetime on a major network. What a dumb move on his part. It will probably fail. No offense to Chuck just this is a bad idea.
