UFC Video Game Set For Spring 2009 Release

Do we REALLY have to wait that long......
Gamespot.com is reporting that THQ has announced that the upcoming UFC video game will be released in the spring of 2009. Below is an excerpt from an article on Gamespot.com:
"That isn't the only fight for which THQ is spoiling, as the publisher also addressed today the Ultimate Fighting Championship game, which has kept an exceptionally low profile since the 2007 E3 Media and Business Summit. That project will now see release in spring of 2009, and like Legends of Wrestlemania, its release will be tied to one of the UFC's major events."
I hope they manage to make something special of this game. The only MMA game which came close to being any good was the PRIDE one and even that lacked any real depth of features.
With their obsession with reversals in the Smackdown games I'm hoping that at least the grappling will be detailed.
Still dreaming of a truly realistic MMA game, though, where you can KO someone in the first 5 seconds or take 2 rounds of a beating and then suddenly submit your opponent out of nowhere.

Kiltman, that's a good idea, but the mass wouldnt be as much into it as they would be into something similar to a standard fighting game. Ever play Bushido Blade on PS?

Unfortunately I think you're right about most people.
One idea that might work would be to have two modes, a standard fighting game mode and a realistic one, similar to how the Call of Duty multiplayer has a hardcore mode where you don't have a HUD and it doesn't take much to kill you. That way you could develop defensive skills in easier matches and then use them in something more realistic.
Ever since the very first moment I played Fight Night Round 3 last year I've been desperate for an MMA game with a great control mechanic and realism.
Spent more than a little time planning it out in my head, but unfortunately I have zero programming ability so it'll never come to fruition.
Never heard of Bushido Blade but I'll certainly give it a try, wikipedia'd it and it sounds interesting.
