Arizona State Shuts Down Wrestling Program

The program was a hotbed for MMA talent......
Arizona State University has announced that it will discontinue it's wrestling program along with men's tennis and men's swimming. Just recently ASU's wrestling program started getting a name for itself by becoming a hotbed for future MMA stars. Fighters such as Cain Velasquez, C.B. Dolloway, Aaron Simpson, & Ryan Bader are all ASU alums with a combined pro record of 16-0.
ASU becomes the 2nd school in the Pac-10 conference to cancel it's wrestling program recently. Last year the University of Oregon announced that it was getting rid of it's wrestling program to reinstate the baseball program.

No, thank football programs that make very little money even for big schools.

Wow, this is horrible, and a dark day for the sport. ASU finished 4th in the Pac 10, 28th in the nation, and has always been a quality program. Oregon was only 53rd this past year, but they have certainly had quality teams in the past.
Not only is this one of the greatest sports in the world - it is also one of the few sports that gives athletes of all sizes a chance to excel.
I hate that college wrestling continues to be decimated. This is why I make sure to contribute financially to the program at my alma matter. My collegiate wrestling experience was great, it is a shame that others are now being deprived of that experience.
