Dana White Gives Warning To Wanderlei Silva
Posted by Dustin James on 05.22.2008

Dana White recently sat down with TheFightNetwork and commented on Wanderlei Silva's status with the UFC:

"Wanderlei has lost three in a row. He's one of these unique fighters who people just love to watch fight because of his mentality on fighting. Obviously, though, [he] has to get a win. This guy has to win some fights here to stay in the UFC and stay at the top of the 205-pound division."

Silva will be fighting Keith Jardine at UFC 84 this weekend.

IF Wandy gets dropped, I see him fighting Tito in EliteXC - this could be a rare occasion where keeping a guy who hasn't been winning might be good.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH SILVA, NO PRESSURE!

Well i don't think he'll be released if he loses unless he has a shocker of a performance, which he rarely does.. I mean Dana didn't say: Win this fight or be fired.

I would think Dana would do with Silva what he did with CroCop if he keeps losing. Let him go fight in some lesser promotion for a little bit, hopefully get some wins, and then return.

Once again very unprofessional for Dana White to air this !!

For starters Wanderlei
Silvas so called 3 losses well lets see !

Losing to a heavywight in Mirko Crocop is no shame by any means -also it was a set up singles match it was the Open-Weight Grand Prix tournament - in which crocop won period !@

That was back in late 2006 , also losing to Dan henderson is no shame as they both have a 1 to 1 win on each other and that was back at the first of 2007 !

All of which has and had nothing to do with the UFC !!

Silva has lost once in the UFC thus far since the Pride was bought. The UFC doesn't even have a world wide ranking system !

Did Dana air or care about Fabricio Werdum losses ? He had lost 2 times back to back in Pride and his first match in UFC he lost to Andre Arloskie making it 3 lost -yet he is still there !

Leban had 3 back to back loses yet he is still there -don'
t see Dana white air dirty laundry on him !

If Dana has any sense he won't release him without giving him a chance in the middleweight division. With Silva's size he may have more success there at this stage in his career.

Wandy has always been overrated and his "Axe Murderer" nick is more hype than substance.

Jardine by decision.

dont be surprised dana white is a dickhead ufc needs a new president before it goes out of business!!!!!!!

that might not be a bad idea. Give dana a spot in the company to talk, and do what he does best. Not sure what that is but it has to be somthing, working with the commissions or the like. But as far as who comes and goes, contracts and dealing with the fighters he could be moved out of that position. I think someone else may want to step up and be the face of the office for a little while. And for the love of good can we get some refs that know what they are doing? And fire the 3 that keep screwing things up Steve, Dean, Edwards (to a lesser extent).

I think that Dana is a very charismatic guy, but it's the dumbass things like this that make him less credible. So I suppose that if Chuck had lost to Wanderlei, he would be gone too, right Dana? He is trying to do exactly what McMahon did when he bought out WCW. Dana is just trying to prove that all the PRIDE fighters can't make it in the UFC.

That's strange because I thought I always heard Joe Rogan say that Dana White & Joel Silva don't care if you win or loose, as long as you perform well and Silva always delivers that.

Dana white is doing the right thing otherwise these guys well some of them will become complacent knowing that no matter how they peform there still be fighting in the ufc

That's just Dana trying to hype the fight some. Wandy not going anywhere win or lose. Win or lose Wandy has exciting fights. A move to 185 might pop up though. 185 could use him too, there's some great match ups for him there.
