Gary Shaw Responds To Dana White's Comments About Kimbo Slice
Posted by Dustin James on 05.23.2008
The EliteXC/UFC war continues.......
During a recent conference call, EliteXC's Gary Shaw responded to recent comments made by UFC president Dana White where White stated that current UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn could defeat Kimbo Slice:
"Dana White is a jerkoff. That's what Dana White is, a fucking idiot, and you can quote me on that. If he cared about mixed martial arts and the sport instead of caring about his big ass swimming pool and his own personal gains, he'd understand that statements like that make someone into a jerk. First of all, I love BJ Penn and he is a friend of mine. Kimbo Slice, one shot, would knock BJ Penn out, a 155 pounder. But they are never going to fight, it is an idiotic statement from a complete idiot… Dana White's an idiot. And if he wasn't an idiot, May 31 would have been the UFC instead of EliteXC. I rest my case."
Kimbo Slice also commented on the situation:
"You know, It's a free country and everyone can have their own opinion."
Don't do it Shaw... Stay away from a Dana White jackass session.
Also, Kimbo continues to be level headed and relaxed despite the attacks on his character (he understands those due to his past affiliations) and his fighting (which is yet to be tested). Kimbo has yet to deserve the respect due to the top fighters but EliteXC will not deny his marketability and will maek full use of his name and fame.
I just felt like rambling but basically [Chris Crocker] LEAVE KIMBO ALONE!![/Chris Crocker]

Got to say, I know Dana's just rattling the sabre a bit, but wouldn't it be a great spectacle? Kimbo charges, eats some kind of weird BJJ/Judo throw/trip and then gets choked out by one of the most talented fighters in the world. Bang EXC is dead. Alternatively, UFC could re-sign Arlovski and have him rip Kimbo a new one. Either way, until Kimbo fights someone with even an gram of talent, who the hell cares about him?
Plus, at least Dana's a successful jerkoff, unlike Gary Shaw, who's a TOTAL jerkoff and only a mildy successful side-show promoter. With Kimbo et al, he's the modern day equivalent of a low-rent Barnum-wannabe exhibiting fake giants and deformed babies. I can picture the entrance introduction now-making his way to the cage Kimbo "the deformed baby" Slice!!!!!!

TempusFugit365 you are a world class moron. Calling Gary Shaw mildly successive is such a ridiculous statement. Gary Shaw was the promoter of the biggest grossing fight ever (Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson) as well as many other top grossing fights like Vargas-Trinidad, and Corrales-Castillo. He also helped create the popular ShoBox series for Showtime. Not to mention all the businesses he's helped get off the ground.
He's done a little more than Dana White did. Let's see, Dana managed Tito and Chuck's careers then begged his super rich friends to buy the UFC so he could run it.
Self made men aren't mildly successful, little whiny babies that need other people to do what they can't are.

Let's just all agree on one thing GSP or Silva would finish off Kimbo very easily

bj would win that fight...brazillian ju jitsu teaches small guys to beat big guys...i mean if kimbo developed a ground game than a good big man beats a good little man...but kimbo hasn't shown anything beyond hitting really hard.

All he said is Kimbo would need one punch, and it is very true.
No one can say Bj Penn could take 1 good punch from Kimbo.. It's just ridiculous to assume different.

How many people watch Kimbo and see a legitimate MMA fighter? show of hands? anybody? Okay, if you do good, if not, that is your opinion as well, but you must remember that the Elite XC events are sold on solid experienced MMA fighting, and Kimbo both. If you don't like Kimbo, turn the TV off when he comes on screen, simple as that. For me, MMA fighter or not, I enjoy seeing some big bastard getting his block knocked off, and Kimbo so far has closed each match on a explosive note, and that is good enough for me. How many people jump to facing top talent in their 3rd or 4th MMA fight? Brock Lesnar comes to mind, and look what happened? There is nothing wrong with Protecting Kimbo right now, and slowly moving him through the ranks. There is no Heavyweight title in EXC right now, so what's the rush?

F*ck Kimbo Slice.

I wanted to chime in because I've personally met Kimbo and you know what, outside of being intimidating as fuck, he's a REALLY nice guy. I work at a store in the Topanga Mall near where he trains and he's always in my store.
My point is I'm 6'1 and 215lbs. About 14% body fat so i'm no fat ass, but I'm not a fighter either, but I do love the sport. That being said, JUST SEEING HIM in person... made me think that if I ever DID fight, I would want to be a middleweight just to MAKE SURE I would never have to fight him. He's an inch shorter than me and is about as big as 3 of me.
That all being said, Dana White saying BJ Penn would win a fight against Kimbo is without fail the most crackheadedest thing the "face" of d-bags has said. He didn't say a submission match, he said a fight. A fight with punches and kicks and whatever other strikes Kimbo can throw on a "5'9" 155lb BJJ guy...
Had he said BJJ tournament ok. Submission match, great! But he didn't. Even then, can I bring up another parallel?
Everyone here remember Fedor/Nogs I? What was the commentary on that fight? Fedor fed Nogs his arm COUNTLESS times for a kimura and what did he do? EVERY SINGLE TIME Big Nogs locked his hands... the hands that are said to be like vice grips, Fedor used BRUTE FORCE to rip his arm out of the lock and rain at least three punches down on Big Nogs' face.
What does this mean to the hypothetical fight of BJ/Kimbo? Even if BJ managed to put Kimbo in a submission, your telling me the 110 lbs. of muscle on Kimbo's frame isn't enough to literally rip BJ right off of him?
Whatever. It's never going to happen. Kimbo is a really nice guy who I wouldn't want to piss off. Dana Douche (as he's known in my house) is a douche, and I REALLY HOPE BJ KICKS THE SHIT out of the Steroid Shark.

it's pretty easy to bash kimbo slice from the safety of your computers ain't it guys? honestly i like all MMA promotions and could give a fuck about shaw or white but come on dana white says bj penn could beat kimbo slice not bj penn, if he really doubts kimbo's abilities why dont he say he could beat him shit dana weighs more than bj penn
ps. u dont need ground game when u are knocking muthafuckers out left and right

Kimbo Slice is fucking terrifying. The dude is RAW.
Posted By: Vallejo (Guest) on May 24, 2008 at 07:59 AM
Anything can happen and if BJ lets kimbo hit him flush yes he probaly would be knocked out. But you know, Kimo Vs Royce all I'm saying.... Though I have a feeling kimbo's better than many MMA fans know. I'd like to see the fight as long as it was old school UFC rules only way to be fair if there is breaks and rounds and rules yes BJ would get destroyed. No rules, no break, no round, Bj has a chance thats right up jusitsu's ally!

to radley if all of bj's 155 pounds if locked around his hear or arm no he couldnt. 110

After reading radley's comment i had to post. Radley ur my hero - u actually met kimbo slice?! WOW! That gives u soooo much credibility then. Just give people a heads up next time so they can get out the way before u start dropping names like that. I guess I'm just having a hard time seeing how u serving Kimbo a burger & fries has anything to do with anything. I guess it's about as relevant as your height, weight, & % body fat? Exactly! If u had ever been in a fight in your life or even seen a real fight then u would know that size doesn't matter even a tenth as much as people say/think. I'm not saying BJ would beat Kimbo or vice versa - the only point I'm making is that u can't possibly predetermine the winner of a fight simply by the size of the fighters. And my other point is that Radley is the d-bag. He has no clue & just wanted to try to sound kewl by saying he's met Kimbo. Well congrats buddy - I really hope u have more exciting things going on in your life than that. That & the fact that people scare u just b/c they're big says alot about u - so basically if dana white is the "face" of d-bags then u my friend, are the vagina!
