Kimbo Slice & Brett Rogers Get Into Altercation At EliteXC Press Conference
Posted by Dustin James on 06.01.2008

During the post-fight press conference for EliteXC's "Saturday Night Fights", Brett Rogers (who defeated Jon Murphy earlier in the evening) was asked about Kimbo Slice's performance:

"I seen some shit today. I seen some shit, some garbage-ass shit. I'm a heavyweight, and I feel I'm a true heavyweight. Thompson? Much respect. But I'm saying it like this. Kimbo Slice, man, that was just garbage, man."

Slice then got up on stage and shook hands with all the other fighters and when he came to Rogers, Rogers shook his hand reluctantly with a disgusted look on his face. Rogers was then asked if he would like to face Kimbo:

"Looking at the fight tonight, man, yeah, a man is man. And what I saw in this man today, it was just garbage. I'm going to speak it real, It was garbage. You did tap. You did tap out (and) I was right there."

It then resulted with more words spoken from both parties with Slice having to be restrained by Gary Shaw and Rogers having to be restrained by Phil Baroni.

Regardless how you look at it Brett Rogers wanted in the main event , he beat Thompson in Fen 08 via KO - he is 7-0 record - 3-0 pro Elite EX - i can understand his frustration and not bowing to the masses liek Kimbo is a somebody - Kimbo is nothing but youtube hype machine and Gary Shaw attempt at a bigger meal ticket and draw ! All Kimbo is , is a "Standup" Brawler - his cardio and what not is under Bas Rutten but he's only been training less than one year !

Kimbo would get runined by Brett Rogers and most if not all Heavyweights in the UFC -throw him agaisnt Paul Bunetello

Kimbo was protected last night PERIOD !!

Rogers speaks the truth.

Too bad Shaw won't let him fight Kimbo next.

Give Kimbo about two months to train and he'll crush this mushmouthed nobody. I hope they book it.

I absolutely agree that Rogers would beat Kimbo-perhaps we'll see that fight. Of course Rogers would be better served going against Silva to be the first HWT champ of EXC (though I'd favor bigfoot).

With that said, he did not need to call him "garbage". Just take the high(er) road and chose your words better. He could have pointed out Kimbo's flaws without truly insulting him.

I think its kind of funny that a sixty year old promoter held back Kimbo, and a fighter held back Rogers!

Looks like Rogers is getting released from EliteXC for this.

What a sham promotion.

this is real good for the sport really shows how matueandseriousfighting shouldbetaken. if you throwkimbo in there with anybody that hasskill he will get absolutley slautered and even if you give him a few years of training and fights he will be to old to be a major part of mma. elite xc should book him against this big offset guys that will stand and throw with him because everybody likes to see to bigguys standand throw but for real mma fans you need more than brawlers. oh and maybe next time they pull somebody out of prison to fight kimbo or they go swimming in the sewer for an opponent the should make sure there presentable on nation tv and dont have growths on there head

Kimbo needs to work on Cardio and submissions. Keep giving him tomato cans to improve his record and by nest year, against some real competition, I think he would be a formidable opponent to some of the more experienced heavyweights.
