Tito Ortiz Announces Plans To Start New MMA Promotion
Posted by Dustin James on 06.03.2008

While a guest on The Howard Stern show today, former UFC fighter Tito Ortiz announced that he has plans to start promoting fights on his own as well as co-promoting fights with other established MMA organizations. When asked about his fight with Lyoto Machida at UFC 84, Ortiz said:

"[They] knowingly scheduled an opponent who would run away from me for three rounds. There were a few times when I was like, 'Come on, man. Don't puss out, let's fight."

"There were a few times when I was like, 'Come on, man. Don't puss out, let's fight."

Right tito, and on the rest of the time he was either kicking you in the head or taking you down for side control.

I guess Tito went to the same school Hulk Hogan did about starting his own promotion when no one wanted to put up with his crap anymore either. Well we see how well it worked out for Hogan, Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey.

Machida was just being elusive, (new term for running)

Machida is like those ppl who played as Guile in SF2 and all the did was crouch in the back corner. See what I did there?

Tito needs to own up to his loss, he should be happy he ran so much because he was beating his ass whenever he wasn't. On top of that he escaped from Tito's best submission attempt. No class.

PROTIP: Machida was not "running." Should he have stood there and got punched in the face instead of moving away? Yeah, didn't think so.

It's also not running if you're actually hitting the other guy and taking him down.

I like Tito. I know that a lot of folks are annoyed by his big mouth but I have to give where credit is due.

On the upside of things, his big mouth has helped put a lot of asses on seats throughout the years.

Love him or hate him, he is one of the best out there when it comes to promoting a fight.

However, I wouldn't recommend him to start another promotion because the market is already saturated with different organizations.

If I were him I would do what Hulk Hogan did with WCW. You know, find a promoter stupid and desperate enough (like Eric Bishcoff) and squeeze as much cash as possible. I say that he has a bigger chance in doing that then starting up another Joe Blow promotion.
