Keith Jardine To Fight Brandon Vera At UFC 89?
Posted by Dustin James on 07.23.2008

During an interview with an Albuquerque radio show today, Keith Jardine announced that he would be fighting Brandon Vera at UFC 89 on October 18 at The NIA in Birmingham, England. Jardine last fought against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 84 where he lost via KO in the first round. Vera recently fought at UFC Fight Night 14 where he earned a decision victory over Reese Andy in a very lackluster performance. The UFC has yet to confirm the bout however. UFC 89 is currently rumored to be shown on Spike TV and will feature a main event of Chris Leben vs. Michael Bisping.

Now the question needs to be posed !

Why is Brandon Vera getting all these fights back to back ! And Why does Keith have to fight Vera ? Are they trying to tell me Vera is under Silva ?
Fighters.com

The guy Jardine lost to for you newbies ! JAridne was ranked 4th until his fight with Silva ! Now he is 5 and due to Silva taking his spot and Forrest coming up and beating Rampage ! But Rampage is currently out so everyone may move up one !

Vera just came in and had his first fight in LH how and why does Keith have to prove himself against him to move up again ???!!

Fucking bullshit !!

Vera has already proven himself as a fighter. He shoudlnt have to start from the bottom just because he went to a different weight class. Vera shoudl do just fine where he is at. You make it sound like Vera is a nobody that just came in off the street. Vera will win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My guess on why Jardine needs to prove him self... because he LOST.

Jardine as 5th? I would love to know how you figure that. Beating Forrest moved him up, but losing to Houston moved him back toward the bottom of the top ten. The same could be said about Liddell and Sivla.

Forrest, Rampage, Liddell, Machida, Silva, and Evans are all above him right now- and it could be debated if Rua (since he only has 1 UFC fight) and Thiago (hasn't beaten a top 5 yet) are ranked even or above him.

Brandon has always been a small HW and unlike Jardine, his only losses come to Sylvia and Werdum... not exactly nobody's.... *cough* Houston Alexander *cough*

Jardine's shown he has a susceptible jaw... I can easily see Vera breaking it again.

Vera lost back to back 2 fights he should have apparently had in the UFC's eyes he was supposed to be this great Heavyweight and it turned out bullshiot !

He never proved anything !He dropped down cause UFC knows he can't hang in the HW division and this fight he just had shows he can't hang period ! Not only was it a sleeper he couldn't even handle Reese Andy to a boring decision win !

was was speaking about Forests moving up to #1 after he beat Rampage

Jardine went back after Houston but came back after he beat Liddel or to you forget that ?

Silva lost to Liddel and as far as i'm concerned the fight shouldn't have happend but it did and it is what it is Jardine lost and puts him back yet again ! The Vera is at the bottom of the pile in the LH division and his performance showed why he is where he is !

Jardine should be fighting a better ranked fighter -either way you clowns wan to paint it Vera is not ranked close to Jardine in the LH !

"Jardine should be fighting a better ranked fighter -either way you clowns wan to paint it Vera is not ranked close to Jardine in the LH ! "

Let me try to put this in a way you can understand- and possibly even agree with... When a top fighter either losses or has just entered the UFC, they are given a lower ranked fighter to face. IF they do well, then they're moved back up to to the top of the list quickly. If they lose, they'll be shunned to the bottom of a very long list.

That's the only reason Jardine was even given Liddell. Chuck lost the belt to Rampage, they couldn't justify an instant rematch so they fed him Jardine. To everyone's surprise, Keith won and ruined their plan. Keith, not having proved himself yet for a title, was given another big fight to see if he did deserve it- where he lost to Silva.

if it'll make you sleep better at night, don't think of it as Jardine having to prove himself again by fighting Vera, but rather- Jardine getting a lesser opponent to destroy to quickly move back up the rankings.

The problem with feeding lesser fighters to top opponents is that it backfires very often.... as Jardine did to Liddell, Forrest did it to Rua, Gonzaga did it to CroCop, and so on.

Is ZW Jardine?

@ Guest#9070

Well you theory is full of holes sir !

Cause liddell lost to Jardine but still got to fight Silva ! Beat Silva and was offered Shogun beofre Keith was offered anybody for his bonus upset !

Than Shogun was injured and they offered up Rashad to Liddell -at which time Jardine was still offered anything !

Than liddell was injured !! And they called the fight off completely !

Than out of the blue the make Silva Vs Jardine WTF !

So thats was Jardine reward the opponent he beat in liddle he gets his beat opponent in Silva ?? Gee way to climb the ladder !!

Why wasn't Jardine given the Rashad fight ? ...Yes overall Keith lost but it was a match that should have never taken place !! Keith beat Liddell he should have advanced for this task not liddell advancing getting the Silva fight ! And than offered more fights while UFC makes Keith hug the pine !

UFC bullshit match ups are just that Bullshit and all you suck it for added to hit's BS !

I might be mistaken, but didn't Evans pretty much handle Jardine on their season of the Ultimate Fighter?

@Toddo (Guest)

was that supposed to be a dig ? Evans won over Jardine yes - so i think an actual rematch would be in order - as this was just for the TV show and both fighters have learned a alot since than !
