Scott Smith Will Undergo Surgery For Broken Hand
Posted by Dustin James on 07.28.2008

David Carmichael, host of the Carmichael Dave Show on KHTK in Sacramento, is reporting that Scott Smith suffered a broken hand during his fight this past weekend against Robbie Lawler at EliteXC's "Unfinished Business" card. Smith is expected to undergo surgery on the hand this coming Wednesday. Smith reportedly broke his hand during the first round of the bout which he eventually ended up losing due to a 2nd round TKO.

I say good for him for making up the story about waiting for somebody else to finish the fight rather than take Lawler's thunder away by blaming his broken hand right after the match.

gotta admit his whole story about not pushing enough to finish makes a lot more sense now. power to you scotty recover fast so you can challenge again.

It was pretty obvious that it was broken, especially when he suddenly quit throwing punches with it and kept shaking it out. Kudos to Smith for sucking it up and making it through the fight.
