Update On Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
Posted by Dustin James on 07.29.2008

Josh Gross of SI.com has a very interesting article about the health of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson up on the popular sports magazine's website right now. In the article it mentions that Jackson has fired longtime manager, trainer, and friend Juanito Ibarra. It also mentions that Jackson is out of psychiatric observation and is attending outpatient treatment daily and that the UFC is interested in having Jackson fight Wanderlei Silva in November depending on Jackson's health.

You can read the entire article here.

If even half the stuff in that article about Rampage's mental state are true, no way should he be allowed to fight in November.

thats messed up ! Juanito Ibarra was calling for a a revoke on the decision in Nevada after Forrest won the title - due to the fact they gave Forrest the 1st round !

Plus wasn't Juanito Ibarra stating he would retire if Quinton lost ? And than decided to stay around due to the controversy ?

Oh well maybe Rampage had enough of the GOD stuff and preaching at training camp and finally realized only he can make things change not preaching to the air about GOD

Juanito is a shifty little leech. Good riddance. Am I the only one who is tired of the UFC bringing over Pride guys and having them rematch in the cage? Ok, I guess Nog vs Herring is the only example, but the point of getting these fighters is new, fresh match-ups. That's why Silva vs Chuck & Jardine were interesting because we'd never seen it. If Rampage still had the title it would be a much better selling point since Wand had beat him twice before, but at this point it would be a total momentum killer for whomever loses. I'd much rather these 2 face either Machida, Rashad or Thiago Silva. That way it either elevates those guys to the next level or solidifies Wand or Rampage as the next contender.

If any of Rampage's friends receive a text message from him containing his home address and that the dogs are locked by the pool, someone should telephone the authorities STAT.

Rampage will make a triumphant return. Juanito however is fat and is the reason rampage lost his mind after the fight. Rampage couldn't handle having the fat little nacho guy around telling him he really won the fight after he lost and it made him go insane.

If Rampage is possibly mentally unstable, is throwing him in there with Silva the best idea right now? For gods sake man, give him a lesser opponent, let him slowly work his way back into contention, make sure he can deal with the pressure before throwing him in a high stress high profile fight.

he already had his head bashed in once, why throw him into a fight with wande to have even worse results happen.. lets get rampage time to heal his mental illness before sending him to the wolves

Wow, Rampage is crazy. UFC really should plan on him fighting until he is sane again. Maybe he never was though.

Nearly every fight that goes to judges has some sort of a scoring controversy. Juanito seemed like a two-faced hothead anyway; obviously he coaches like shit considering that only 2 of Rampage's guys won fights during TUF meanwhile Forrest's coaches were much better and played more active and vocal roles in getting the team ready.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rampage train with either Randy, GSP, or Anderson Silva; train with the best to be the best.
