Jesse Taylor Comments On Release From UFC
Posted by Dustin James on 07.31.2008

Jesse Taylor recently sat down with MMAJunkie.com and discussed his release from the UFC earlier today:

On the contract he had with the UFC and his feelings on the release:

"It's definitely frustrating, I was upset, of course. But I'm going to keep on fighting. It could be a blessing in disguise with the other organizations out there.

It's like a three-year deal with the ['The Ultimate Fighter'] and all. I think they can release you whenever they want. So yeah, they kind of let me go."

On if his comments about Quinton Jackson had anything to do with his release:

"I heard that too, I actually really don't know. If it is, I think it's kind of funny because I definitely didn't make those comments to piss anybody off.

I thought the whole thing was blown out of proportion, I just said, 'What goes around comes around,' kind of meaning about the double standards. Not meaning anything bad. I guess they kind of took it the wrong way, but I didn't mean anything bad by it.

I don't regret [making the comments] at all, I don't know if [the UFC is] looking for an excuse to get me out of there or what. The comments were nothing."

On if a return to the UFC could be in his future:

"Hopefully I didn't leave on a bad note, I wouldn't mind fighting for them again. Right now, first things first, is just to find another fight -- hopefully in a major organization -- and get back out there.

Keep on the lookout, There should be something big in the next couple weeks about where I'm going."

needs to grow up

No he doesn't. He's being really mature about it, and I feel he had every right to say whatever he wanted about the situation. At least Dana didn't have to bail him out of jail. It is a double standard.

He was a boring fighter anyway.

I am surprised how willingly people accept the UFC tossing him from the finale. Dana picked the semifinal matchups, seemingly to get a Credeur-CB final, and both of his picks lost. When JT$ did his shit Dana saw a way to get CB back in the finale and he took it. What JT$ did is no reason to toss him from the spot he earned in the finale, considering how Leben and plenty of other got away with worse while actually in the house.

I am usually not one to randomly criticize the UFC, but I feel like JT$ made them look like a bunch of jerks, and they are punishing him for it.

What a loser. Team Quest should drop him too.

No, they obviously were setting up for a Jesse/CB final.

I agree, Matt. Leben shouldve been kicked off of TUF the second he left the house to make a phone call. And like 10 times after that. And after all his losses...

JT really didnt do anything THAT bad. He didnt risk anyones life, he didnt need a cop to put him on the ground at gun point. And he is right, what comes around goes around. But in Danas eyes Rampage is a little more important to UFC then JT Money. Double standards all around. If Dana lets Rampage fight in November I hope there is an uprising.

this double standard/dana's boy toy shit pisses me off. I already ranted about this once and instead of doing it all over again heres what i said the last time;

"can't blame jesse for this one. i love rampage but i hate this dana's little boy toy bullshit. jesse fucked up hardcore thats no doubt, but when he was brought in, rampage's dig was unnecessary and no more than that. just a mean dig at one of forrest's fighters. rampage doesn't care about how jesse represents the ufc and that comment was in no way a legit concern of his. the sole purpose of that comment was to take a shot at an already hurting (and crying) guy. then to top it off rampage goes and does something 10 times worse than what jesse did and you expect jesse to not say something?!?! Christ i can't believe thats all jesse said. what goes around comes around is a 100% truthful and appropriate statement for jesse to make and fuck dana white in favorite playing ass if he cuts jesse taylor for this. cut the guy for being a loose cannon or for being boring but not for this BS."

First and foremost, Rampage = PPV buys, Jesse Taylor does not. Period. You don't insult one of the top prospects of the company or team you are working/playing for. That'd be like Steve Kerr complaining that Michael Jordan got the ball too often during the 96 Playoffs.

Secondly, neither you, me nor anyone else knows what happened to Rampage a few weeks ago nor do any of us know what mental state of mind he was in. We DO know that Jesse Taylor got drunk, busted a limousine window, groped some chicks at a casino and then yelled at everyone "Don't you know who I am?? I'm a UFC fighter!" He was not under contract at the time yet he was portraying himself as a representative of not only the UFC but also the sport of MMA as a whole. Being a drunken hoosier and acting innapropriately is one thing, but running your mouth and trying to lump yourself in as a "UFC fighter" in a town where the UFC has its roots is one of the most retarded things you could ever do.

Fuck Jesse Taylor, he's a boring fighter with a limited skillset and a 'holier than thou' attitude. He needs to lay off the sauce, keep his mouth shut, train harder and let his performance in the ring dictate what and where he goes, instead of trying to run his mouth to get ahead.

Leben didnt go in public and go on a "Rampage" like JT, and he's not a boring ass fighter like him either. His record is 8-3 in the UFC w/6 fininshes.

Got to Love Nick. "Secondly, neither you, me nor anyone else knows what happened to Rampage a few weeks ago nor do any of us know what mental state of mind he was in."

We do know that Rampage got taken down by the Law. Jesse got drunk, but he did not run from the Police. Jesse lost a shot at a good money contract. I doubt the UFC will do anything to Rampage because he makes them money right now. I wish that Forrest or Rampage would have stood up to Dana when he wanted to kick Jesse out of the finals in the first place. Jesse got drunk and kicked out a window. Why not just fine Jesse for the window and make him apologize for the groping? If I was Jesse, and they asked me about the Rampage situation, I would have wanted to know when Dana White was going to announce when Rampage was going to be released from the UFC.

BTW Nick, running from the law in a truck with your name and a picture of yourself on it is one of the most retarded things you could ever do not claiming to be a UFC fighter.

Reports the other day (on here, linked from Sherdog I believe) said he believed he was "god" and a day later after that report, he fired Juanito (who is apparently a bible thumper).

Was he stupid for running from the cops? Absolutely. Whether he was black, white, hispanic, etc it doesn't matter; you don't run from the cops (especially if you're a celebrity). The insult to injury *was* the truck he was driving, there's no denying that.

Jesse Taylor is a drunk; Rampage has mental issues (and is probably bipolar and needs meds). Once he gets help, he'll be back, and he'll earn the UFC a ton of money - which is something a sober Jesse Taylor is not going to do in the next year.

I stand by my original comment; Taylor shouldn't have said shit about Rampage. You don't make waves, especially when you're the new guy, AND you're already in hot water for having issues in the past. Rampage needs professional help; Jesse Taylor is just a moron.

Nick,

If you are saying that color does not matter, then why does how much money someone makes for the UFC matter when it comes to punishment. Jesse lost his spot for getting drunk. We are not sure anything is going to happen to Rampage. All Jesse said was "what comes around goes around." I believe he intended that more towards Dana White than Rampage as I doubt Jesse has a problem with Rampage. Rampage did not kick him out, Dana did. Not only that, Dana reacted very quickly to what Jesse did. Yet nothing about the money maker Rampage so far. As far as I know, Dana did not offer to help Jesse with his "drinking problem", but I bet he will be there waiting with a towel when Rampage gets out of the shower. I would be mad if I was Jesse about losing my opportunity, and I don't think I would bite my tongue. It does not matter if I am the new guy or not. I would especially be upset when one of the guys that was in the room when that decision was made, makes even a bigger mistake and nothing happens to him. Dana White just got slapped in the head with a little Karma. Dana White says dumber things on a daily basis than Jesse The Drunk Man Taylor. I don't even know if Dana drinks.
