Fedor vs. Arlovski Could Be Off
Posted by Ashish on 08.02.2008

Advertising for the next Affliction show on 10/11 no longer mentions Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski and now instead mentions Andrei Arlovski vs. TBD.

They lost too much money, hence no Fedor and asking fighters for 50% pay cuts.

How could they afford Tito ?

If I where Fedor I would not show up either. Like I've said before, Fedor is a chump not to be confused with champ.

For all you Fedor lovers out there, HA HA!

Its his hand. It said in the medical suspensions that Fedor was out for 180 days unless cleared. Maybe he isn't cleared yet. Fedor cost less than half of Arlovski at the last event so I doubt money was the reason.

Fedor cost more than a million.....

Ed is correct. Fedor's hand is what is keeping him from fighting Arlovski. It's rumored that it could end up being Arlovski vs. Barnett. Fedor vs. Cro Cop on New Year's Eve is still possible however.

Maybe it's his hand, maybe not....maybe paying him a million plus per fight is too much for Affliction.

They must be hurting to ask guys to take a 50% pay cut(Barnnett said no, btw).

The question is whether Affliction is willing to pay $1 million or more to Fedor and only get a thirty second fight and extremely low profit margin in return. As for Fedor, I sure would love to be him. Come in, beat a top fighter in thirty seconds, build up your aura, and go home with a huge paycheck.

This is not a Fedor problem, as fighters get hurt. This is the problem with having a 20 person roster. Not everyone can fight every 3 months. In fact, they are lucky that a lot of their fighter can fight again so quickly.

The CSAC stated that Fedor can't fight for 180 days unless cleared by a doctor. To announce him in a fight before those 180 days (or doc clearance) are up would be a blatant slap in the face to the athletic commission- a groups you really don't want to piss off if you care to have any fights in the US again.

Due to his signing bonus and rights to his footage, Fedor was only paid $300k... so it's not a pay issue.

Horseshit, do you really think Tim Sylvia made twice as much as Fedor ???

and fighters always get cleared to fight earlier than what the medical suspension is for.

It said fedor only made 300k which is a joke he wanted millions to fight in the ufc, he probly got 300k that people know about and then got slipped a huge "locker room" bonus that not to many people know about

"Due to his signing bonus and rights to his footage, Fedor was only paid $300k"

WTF, that doesn't make sense....he got paid his signing bonus+300k which is a helluva lot more than 300k.

No, I think Sylvia was paid closer to 3x more then Fedor for that fight.

Fedor's signing bonus was probably huge and doesn't count as income for the fight. That was just to get his signature- he got and keeps it regardless... it'd now be idiotic for Affliction to not use him as often as possible to make up for it. Not to mention, Fedor owns the rights to his footage- that alone has the ability to make up for his low wage.

I can't believe some of you actually think a top fighting champion like fedor would only get paid 300k for that fight. For one it was the main event, everyone came to see that particular fight. That means they had to pay him a hell of a lot more then 300k. They can afford fedor cuz he makes them a lot of money. 300k sounds like a minimum bonus.
