BJ Penn/Georges St. Pierre Likely To Be Held In February 2009

Will Penn still fight in December?
MMANews.com is reporting that BJ Penn's brother, JD Penn, has confirmed that the BJ Penn/Georges St. Pierre fight will more than likely go down at the UFC's February 2009 PPV to be held during Super Bowl weekend. However, JD also announced that BJ is currently training and may still be looking for a fight in December, possibly a lightweight title defense against Kenny Florian. UFC fans have been clamoring for a BJ Penn lightweight title defense and with so much time off between now and February of 2009, will we get to see it?
Seems unlikely BJ would be able to fight again in February if he fought on the New Years show.. even if he didnt get injured in any way.

UFC needs to let fighters fight more. I remember in Pride you would see the same guys coming back the very next show. Crocop was knocked out by I believe Randleman and came back 3 weeks later to knock someone else out at a Bushido event. Look at Jeremy Horn, busiest fighter there is.

The athletic commissions probably would have issues with fighters fighting as much as they did in Pride. If you get knocked out, you can't even get in a ring before 30 days.

I still do not get WHY Penn gets to fight GSP?
I mean Penn hasn't had a Welterweight Match in 2 years and hasn't WON in the division in 4 1/2 Years!!!
Let Diego, Thiago or Koscheck get shots before Penn... (Penn should at least fight Jon Fitch 1st before stepping in there with GSP)
Of course, GSP will beat them all anyway so I guess everything I just wrote is a moot point.

1) Penn is (I almost combined those two words) a really good friend of Dana White and management so he can get what he wants.
2) And what he wants is to get in the win column against GSP. His ego won't allow him to be winless against GSP. Imagine what would happen later if he lost again.
