Paul Heyman Says EliteXC Is Done
Posted by Dustin James on 10.08.2008

Wrestling promoter Paul Heyman recently spoke with The Sun and discussed the future of EliteXC after Kimbo Slice's loss to Seth Petruzelli at EliteXC "Heat":

"The Kimbo debacle was the death knell for Elite XC. If I were Showtime, I'd cut and run. Kimbo got knocked out by an unknown and not an unknown they can build the promotion around. Now Elite XC have nothing to carry the top of the card and the ratings demonstrated an audience interest in Kimbo which must now be dead.

"The promotion was built around Kimbo and it didn't even seem to matter that he was obviously being protected. People were into the character, the aura, the Mike Tyson-like persona of the baddest man from the streets kicking everyone's butt. But the promotion didn't protect him and everything about the fight, from the no-name opponent to the ref stoppage to the forced 'Rocky' comparisons, has caused a backlash from some and total apathy from others.

"It was a bad day for Elite XC and a great one for Dana White."

The mans an expert on dead promotions. Still,I see XC going really small and staying alive. They will be like the ROH of the MMA world.

No they won't; ROH doesn't suck.

The guy that eats out of the garvage can has an opinion too.

This is how far zuffa owned yahoo mma sinks? Quoting Paul Heyman? jesus: somebody feels threatened.

Pro elite is done,
Exc is a brand, and is about to be reborn.

Dana White? Just a mouthpiece. Easy to replace. Sounds like Heymans looking for a job from the Fertittas.

As long as Gina Carano is fighting for EliteXC, then it's got life.

Seth is a unknown? Its weird before brock started mma i never saw pauls name in the mma section or never heard him say anything about it

Cut your losses and pull the Cung Le vs Frank Shamrock rematch out. Put THAT on CBS and you will make some fans. Put Kimbo and Crush on the undercard to get those fans to watch. Once they See Le and Shamrock in action they will become fans of EliteXC. It worked for me when I saw their first fight. Easily one of the best fights Ive ever seen.

Wrestling is stupid and I dont need opinions on MMA from someone who has nothing to do with MMA.

what on earth does this dude know about MMA ?

Posted By: hmmm (Guest)  on October 09, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Man you guys act as if it is a sin to like both MMA and pro wrestling... And being involved in one discounts your opinion on the other? if that is the case, what exactly have any of you done for your opinion on MMA to have any more bearing than anyone elses?

Posted By: You are all arrogant pricks (Guest)  on October 09, 2008 at 12:47 PM

He knows more than shitcans like you who read his opinions.

Posted By: Kyle (Guest)  on October 09, 2008 at 01:24 PM

He could know absolutely nothing about MMA, and he's still correct. Elite XC is a business and Heyman knows businesses and how they work.

You all need talk about PenisDT, it will be more successfully in MMA than Elite & UFC. So, let's talk about "Positive" of future MMA's PenisDT.

For God's sake, who keeps letting PDT post on the MMA stories? It's not even funny anymore, dude. It would be better if Penis-Don't-Talk...didn't talk at all.

Damn... he is the messiah.... Calling that right as things where looking good ratings wise.... but still being right... Heyman is a genius
