KJ Noons Declares Himself a Free Agent
Posted by Dustin James on 10.08.2008

During a recent interview with Sherdog.com, former EliteXC Lightweight Champion KJ Noons declared himself a "free agent":

"We weren't coming to agreements on the [Nick Diaz] fight, so I gave [EliteXC] written notice that I'd give them the belt back five days prior before they stripped me. I didn't make it public, and I guess to prove a point, or maybe out of ego or whatever they want, they stripped me.

"Since I've been stripped, I'm no longer the champion and I don't owe them the fights. I owed them fights for being a champion.

"Hopefully [EliteXC] will want to bring me back in the future and they can have Eddie [Alvarez] or Nick [Diaz] or whoever they have in the future fight the real champ."

EliteXC's Head of Fight Operations, Jeremy Lappen, doesn't agree:

"KJ still has two more fights on his contract. I'm hoping we'll work something out, but there's really not much to work out. He's still under contract with us."

As of right now, it appears that EliteXC is going to let Noons pursue a boxing match for November 13 in Los Angeles.

Sorry KJ, if it didn't work for Randy, it sure as hell won't work for you.

Did he get this blithering nonsense from Mark Dion? I hope KJ can proved he signed another contract as champion, because if he doesn't it'll prove he's an idiot.

I support Noons.

See you cowards that support zuffa, I really do put the fighters first. If Noons wants to improve his plight, I have his back.

Hopefully you braindead zuffa zombies hear my call.

There are no winners just losers in this case. Things can still work it's way on the track, but EliteXC is derailing fast with all it's money woes and fallen champions not to mention Kimbo.

We're zuffa zombies because we like the best MMA promotion in the world? Elite xc is crap. Period. Not the fighters mind you, but the promotion is pure feces. Affliction? Their video quality detracted from the fights, and they haven't put on a second show yet so I can't call them a great company. Dream is pretty good stuff but who over there could beat the UFC's top dogs like Silva, GSP, and Griffin? Sorry guys but suddenly being a zuffa zombie isn't so bad eh?
