UFC News: Anderson Silva's Next Fight, Cote Injury Update, Randy Couture Training With Shane Carwin, More
Posted by Dustin James on 10.29.2008

-Anderson Silva recently asked Dana White if he could fight on the UFC 91 show on November 15. Silva was upset with his performance at UFC 90 and wants to fight again right away. However it's looking more like he won't fight again until February 2009.

-Patrick Cote was told three weeks ago to get surgery on his knee and to cancel his UFC 90 fight against Anderson Silva. Cote refused to listen and will now need reconstructive surgery and will most likely be out for up to 8 months.

-Josh Koscheck still plans on fighting Yoshiyuki Yoshida at UFC Fight Night 16 on December 10.

-Randy Couture has been training with UFC heavyweight Shane Carwin (a former Division II National Champion) to prepare for his UFC 91 fight against Brock Lesnar. Couture's punching power is said to be "better than ever" and he has been getting the better of Carwin when it comes to wrestling.

-Dana White has confirmed that he's interested in signing Robbie Lawler, Jake Shields, and Nick Diaz.

Well the Wrestling Observer is a legit source, but i'm pretty sure Anderson said in an interview that he's going on vacation and then going to Thailand to sharpen his Muay Tai (Go figure)..

Diaz in the ufc would be awesome. all his previous fights in the ufc were awesome... i enjoyed watching him lose more than i enjoyed watching the other guys get the decision.

-It sucks about Anderson Silva having to wait to fight if he doesn't want to.... but when there's big money to be made for his PPV's and all the shows between now and Feb are stacked, it makes sense. Of course, with Afflictions January show on the horizon and nothing yet planned from the UFC, I could easily see Silva being called. He could be the Anti-Affliction go to guy.

-Cote was in a lose-lose situation. If he were to pull out of the fight to get surgery, there's no chance he'd ever get another shot.

-I hope Koz heals quick.

-Shane Carwin is a monster, no doubt, but with only 1 of his 10 fights going over 2 minutes, you have to wonder what kind of cardio he has. If Randy has been able to get the better of Carwin during a 5+ minute spar, it wouldn't be as impressive as if he was able to get the jump on him instantly. On a side note, considering it's just a 2 year age difference, I'd be curious if Shane and Brock ever wrestled back in the NCAA days.

-I'm all for signing Lawler, Shields, and Diaz as they were the best EliteXC had to offer... but can't help but wonder- does anyone really think any of the three has a chance to wear gold in the UFC?

...I'd mark for another Nick vs. Nate sai fight!

I actually see Brock and Minataro going over and big Nog beating Brock. And Fedor is the best pfp fighter ever. Look at the record. 1 loss due to a cut.

Hmmm. No one seems to think that Silva's wanting to fight so often indicates he wants to complete his 6 fights left on his contract so that he can retire asap.

Nick and Nate Diaz in the UFC... together!

Awesome.

They should sign a tag team belt, we the Miller Bros. vs. the Diaz Bros.

Maybe a table match?
