Cain Velasquez On Outs With The UFC

Could Velasquez be leaving the UFC?
UFC President Dana White announced on Wednesday that he will no longer be doing business with fighters from the American Kickboxing Academy team in San Jose, California or fighters represented by DeWayne Zinkin and Bob Cook. White then released UFC welterweight Jon Fitch (who is now back with the company) and heavyweight Christian Wellisch. White also went on a tirade against upcoming UFC heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez, who wanted standard language removed from his contract:
"Can you believe that? Chuck Liddell has that language in his contract. Randy Couture has it. Anderson Silva has it. And Cain fucking Velasquez, with two fucking fights, wants us to change it for him? That's fucking nuts. He can get the fuck out."

Don't worry Dana. Within two years, chances are that Couture, Liddell and Anderson Silva won't have standard language in their contracts because they'll be retired! Did you ever stop to think that one man may have different needs than another? Everybody's got their own set of circumstances. Without knowing what exactly Velasquez wanted removed, it's hard to say if he was being unreasonable or not. Dana really can't afford to be thinning out his Heavyweight Division though. Especially not losing Velasquez who was considered probably the rookie with the most potential. Couture will be gone soon.Mir, Gonzaga and Kongo are very unconistent. Suppose Lesnar beats Nog and Mir. How many fighters does he have who are potential threats to Brock? He ws very stupid to say "Who the fu*k cares about Josh Barnett?" The guy holds one win over Noguiera. How many fighters can say that? He's also very charismatuc and marketable with his excellent interview skills. The UFC may be getting to be too big a company to have a man with the temper of Dana White running it. They need someone who has more polished business skills. Randy Couture doesn't like him - he was getting ready to take Dana White to court to get out of the UFC. Fedor doesn't want any part of Dana's contracts, He lost Arlovski, he's losing Velasquez, failed to sign Barnett, there have been no talks of him trying to sign Overeem or Kharitanov, what the hell? This is supposed to be the big leagues Dana - act like it. He's very ill mannered to be running what is supposed to be the big leagues. Can you imagine the president of The NFL talking like Dana White?

Having standard language in your contract is having language/terms in your contract that Zuffa's lawyers made up so that the contracts would always favor The UFC more than he fighter. For example, if you lose a fight, they can immediately terminate your contract, even if your contract said that you were guaranteed 3 more fights with them at a minimum of $50,000 per fight. BUT, if you win a fight and get a better offer ion Japan for example, you are not free to terminate your contract - they can make you finish ALL the fights that your contract calls for and if you don't, they can keep you from working anywhere in the MMA business in the world until you do finish out your contract. So standard language gives The UFC security but doesn't give fighters security. Understand?
