Explanation For Jon Fitch Fighting On UFC 94 Prelim Card
Posted by Dustin James on 12.24.2008

The reason that the Jon Fitch vs. Akihiro Gono fight at UFC 94 will be on the prelim card instead of the televised card isn't because of the contract issues that Fitch had with the UFC a few weeks back. The feeling was that the Nate Diaz vs. Clay Guida fight had to go live due to it's potential for "Fight of the Night". The Stephan Bonnar vs. Jon Jones fight was added to the televised card due to the fact that the UFC believes Bonnar is a bigger name than either Fitch or Gono. It came down to either the Fitch/Gono fight or Karo Parisyan vs. Dong Hyun Kim and the UFC went with the Parisyan/Kim fight because they thought it had the potential to be the more exciting of the two.

If this was 2 years ago you could play the "Bonner is a bigger name card" but not now. Its F'N John Fitch. C'mon ufc. Jon Fitch training by himself is probably more entertaining than most fights. C'mon ufc, really

I agree with Guida vs Diaz being a possible fight of the night. But no way as far as a Bonner being a bigger name or Karo vs Kim being a better match up. Fitch had his last card on the Main Event against GSP. Now on the prelim wow how the mighty have fallen.

I'd simply say that FItch's fight has the posibility to go the distance and take up a lot of time while not being the most entertaining. Meanwhile, if Bonner goes 15, it will be a war.

Fitch is more popular, but he doesn't always have the most exciting fights... and before anyone mentions it- his fight against GSP was very exciting, but it wasn't because of Fitch.

I'm glad to see the Bonner/Jones fight on the main card, because when Jon Jones knocks Bonner the fuck out it will put the UFC on notice that this guy is a major player. WAR Jones!

Stephen Who? Bonar? Oh yea, that's the guy that lost to Rashad Evans in the Ultimate Finale!
(To those who are getting ready to comment the shit out of that...it was a joke)

It should have simply taken Karo "DO you know who i am?" Parysian's fight with Kim.
