UFC Fight Night 18

-In memory of Charles "Mask" Lewis.

-Opening video

-The hosts as usual are Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan. Rogan talks about Carlos Condit coming from the WEC and Kampmann's drop to 170.

-Video preview for Miller vs. Browning

Lightweight Fight: Junie Browning (3-1) vs. Cole Miller (14-3)

Round One: Push kick by Miller. Junie tries a takedown but Miller goes for a kimura. The fight hits the ground with Junie on the back of Miller. Miller scrambles out and up to his feet. Right hand by Miller. Junie goes for another takedown and Cole locks in a guillotine. Junie taps out.

-Miller barked at Junie after he tapped him out.

Official Decision: Cole Miller by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:58 in Round One

-Miller yelled, "who's overrated now?" at Browning after the submission. Miller dedicates the fight to Mask. Miller wants to fight the winner of Uno vs. Fisher.

-Video preview for dos Anjos vs. Griffin

Lightweight Fight: Rafael dos Anjos (11-3) vs. Tyson Griffin (12-2)

Round One: Inside leg kicks by Griffin to start. Griffin scoring with the right hand. Griffin ducking and countering. Straight right stumbles Anjos. Takedown by Griffin. Anjos goes for a leg lock and gets a leg lock using his own legs. Anjos uses the position to sweep and get up. Griffin's leg looks messed up. Flying knee by Anjos. Griffin goes for the takedown as the round ends. Close round. 10-9 Anjos.

Round Two: Anjos stumbles Griffin with a counter left. Griffin moving gingerly on his lead leg. Griffin still scoring with the right. Body kick by Anjos. Good exchange that Griffin gets the better of. Griffin putting good combos together. Griffin grabs a single but Anjos goes for a kimura. Griffin pulls out. Body shots by Griffin. Big right stumbles Anjos. They clinch against the cage. Good right by Griffin as they break. Another close round. 10-9 Griffin.

Round Three: Double jab, straight right scores for Griffin. Big exchange where both men got caught with good punches. Griffin back to using the inside leg kicks. Another flying knee by Anjos. Griffin really scoring with the big right. Good right by Anjos. Big exchanges with neither getting the better of it. Griffin pressing forward more. Griffin grabs a single and Anjos goes for the kimura again. They drop to the mat. Anjos gets the kimura but Griffin pulls out. Griffin with good ground and pound to end the round. Another close round. 10-9 Griffin

-The decision could go either way

Official Decision: Tyson Griffin by Unanimous Decision (30-27 across)

-Griffin says he's been put in the leg lock before and Rogan seems shocked by that answer.

Light Heavyweight Fight: Carmelo Marrero (10-2-1) vs. Ryan Bader (9-0)

Round One: Marrero rushes in and Bader takes him down. Bader passes to side control but Marrerro gets him in half guard as he tries to mount. Bader uses a kimura to pass back to side control. Bader gets the Salaverry position and goes for an armbar. Marrero keeps his hands locked as he rolls over. Marrero escapes and is in guard. Bader pushes away and gets to his feet. Another takedown by Bader. Easy pass to side control. Marrero scrambles to his feet. Bader shoots and gets another takedown. Bader has half guard but lands no ground and pound. Marrero pushes him away and gets to his feet. 10-9 Bader.

Round Two: They trade right hands. Marrero goes for a takedown and Bader easily sprawls. Bader uses a front face lock to put Marrero on his back. Marrero rolls but gives up his back. Bader landing punches from the turtle position. Marrero stands but Bader drags him back to the ground. The crowd is booing. Bader has half guard. Bader moves to the mount but Marrero bucks him off and gets him back in guard. The round ends. 10-9 Bader.

Round Three: They trade leg kicks to start. Bader ducks under and gets the takedown. Bader passes to half guard and goes for an arm triangle. Bader gets side control and then passes to mount. Marrero gives his back and Bader has turtle position. Marrero rolls into guard. The ref stands them up. Bader shoots but Marrero stays on his feet. Bader shoots again and seats him against the cage. Bader uses the front face lock to get guard again. The round ends as the crowd boos. 10-9 Bader.

Official Decision: Ryan Bader by Unanimous Decision (30-27 across)

-Bader didn't feel he fought up to his potential. Bader dedicates the fight to Mask.

-Chuck Liddell joins Joe Rogan via satellite. Liddell is working with ATT in preparation for Shogun. Liddell still wants his title back and feels he's corrected his mistakes. Liddell says he's tightened his striking defense and got back to his wrestling roots.

-Video preview for Condit vs. Kampmann

Welterweight Fight (Main Event): Carlos Condit (23-4) vs. Martin Kampmann (14-2)

Round One: They trade hooks and then clinch. Takedown by Kampmann and he's in side control. Kampmann locks in a guillotine. He rolls to his back but Condit survives and has side control. Kampmann gets him to half guard and then gets to his feet. Another clinch and Condit gets the takedown into half guard. Kampmann reverses and is now in Condit's guard. Kampmann goes for a heel hook. Condit pulls out and now he's in the half guard of Kampmann. Condit stands and comes down with a big punch. Condit with a big knee as Kampmann tries to stand against the cage. Kampmann is cut. Body kicks by Condit. They clinch and Kampmann gets the takedown. Kampmann goes for a guillotine but the round ends. 10-9 Condit.

Round Two: Condit mixing up his kicks. They clinch and Kampmann gets the takedown into guard. Condit pushes him off and gets to his feet. Elbow by Condit and Kampann answers with a right. Flying knee by Condit catches the arm of Kampmann. Front kick by Condit. Takedown by Condit. Kampmann pushes him away and gets up. They trade hooks. Kampmann tries for the guillotine again as Condit gets the takedown. Condit pulls out and takes the back of Kampmann. Kampmann rolls into the guard of Condit. The round ends. Close round. 10-9 Condit.

Round Three: Kampmann gets poked in the eye to start the round. The ref halts the action. Kampmann continues after a short rest. Takedown by Kampmann. Both guys throwing punches and elbows on the ground. Kampmann standing and coming down with the big right. Condit gets up but Kampmann gets his back on the feet. Kampmann drags him back to the ground and in guard. Condit goes for a kimura but can't finish. Condit goes for a heel hook but Kampmann pulls out. Back on the feet. Kampmann catches the kick and gets it back to the ground and in guard. Condit gets to his feet and goes for a guillotine. The round ends. 10-9 Kampmann.

-Really close fight. Whoever won the 2nd round won the fight.

Official Decision: Martin Kampmann by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

-Kampmann says he thought he had the guillotine in the first.

That decision in the Condit-Kampmann fight was bullshit. Good fight, but Carlos was never really in trouble. He's been in guillotines like that before.

Condit should learn how to wrestle if he wants to be a main card fighter in the UFC WW division. It has always been his problem and you would think it would have gotten better since he started training at Arizona Combat Club, but it has not. He needs to stick to fighting people with no wrestling ability.

I gave up being surprised by Cecil Peoples' judging. I mean, this guy habitually seems to be watching different fights than the one I just saw.

I think you had to give it to Kampmann because he's the only one who clearly won a round (3).

I'm so glad Cole Miller won. That piece of shit Junie is the sole reason I stopped watching last season's TUF. I hope he has a very short stay in the UFC.
