The Ultimate Fighter 9
Team US vs. Team UK
Episode 8
Previously: Pierce and Dave got injured. Team UK took a 4-2 lead.
Opening Video
Pierce has staph infection in his foot and leg. He hopes it clears quickly so he can train properly. Dave has trouble keeping his mouthpiece in while he fights. Bisping gives him the "this is your chance" speech. At Team US training, they play ULTIMATE FRISBEE in order to boost their cardio. What an awesome game. Pierce went to the doctor and says the doctor told him not to fight because of his foot, then he says he was told not to fight if it hurts, then he just doesn't want to fight because it hurts. Henderson isn't down with the negativity.
Santino says Pierce is always grumpy unless he's eating and doesn't respond unless talked to in a British accent. Frank wants to punch Pierce in the face.
At the fight announcement, Henderson announced Jason Dent (Team US) vs. Jeff Lawson (Team UK). Henderson thinks the fight will be a chess match, Bisping thinks Lawson will win via quick takedown and submission.
Dent doesn't like being in the house or being social. Damarques will think Dent will look back on this experience and be upset at himself for not making the best of the situation.
Henderson likes that Dent is a technical fighter but says that he doesn't like to change or improve on his weaknesses. Henderson wants Dent to stop getting so frustrated during training. Henderson labels Dent as "tough to coach".
Jeff puts a latex glove over his head and has guys draw a face on it. He says he a quiet and grumpy at first but as the show has gone on he's started to open up. Dave puts on a UK lucha mask while Jeff wears dumbo ears. Dave, Jeff, and Dean put on a wrestling match and spills all over the house and to the outside. This is the greatest thing ever in the history of this show. SUPLEX OFF THE DIVING BOARD INTO THE POOL~! "Lets tell the truth. The show would have been shit without Dave Faulkner" followed by an awesome laugh. Dave Faulkner rules. The wrestling scene ends with Dean getting powder thrown on him while still in the pool.
Jeff talks about all his armbar victories. Jeff's gameplan: throw 4 or 5 punches, wait for a mistake, judo throw, armbar, fight over. If the fight goes down like this then I'll use British slang the rest of this recap. Bisping says that Jeff had a chest infection at the start of the show and missed some training time. Dave thinks people underestimate Jeff, Dean puts over his judo throws.
Pierce and Henderson have a meeting with Dana about Pierce's fight status. Pierce says mentally he's ready to fight but feels weak physically. Dana doesn't think Pierce wants to fight based on how he's answering questions. Henderson agrees with Dana.
Lightweight Fight: Jason Dent (Team US) vs. Jeff Lawson (Team UK)
Recap: Most of the first round was controlled by Jeff who spent a lot of time on top of Jason throwing down punches and elbows but never really doing a lot of damage. Jeff looked tired at the end of the round. Jeff seemed completely gassed in the second. He went for weak takedowns and finally got sprawled and caught in an anaconda choke by Dent.
Winner – Jason Dent, Submission (Anaconda Choke), Round 2
Dana wasn't impressed with Dent as he wasn't aggressive when Jeff was gassed. Jeff is disappointed he didn't finish the fight because he was going to use the bonus to take his family on vacation.
Dana tells Pierce that he's not going to allow him to fight. Pierce just puts his head down and says nothing. Dana thinks Pierce showed up and realized that he wasn't a fighter. Pierce says that he hates getting benched. Henderson thinks Pierce was better off not fighting because he would have lost.
End Show
Next Week: Someone steps up for Peirce. Bisping and Damarques almost fight. Dave tries to get hypnotized. A shocking finish to a fight that goes to the third round.
Show Comments: The triple threat match in the house was enough to make this one of the best TUF episodes ever. Everyone make sure you watch at least the clip of that. The Pierce storyline comes to an end with the conclusion everyone saw coming. The fight was pretty boring. Next week seems very interesting.
I was not impressed with Jason Dent... the 3 way bout in the house was tight specially the Suplex off the Diving Board. To top it all off they threw Powder in the dudes wet face okay show this week, next week looks GREAT...

Thank God it wasn't a LW that left the show - 'cause that WOULD have meant the return of Robert Browning.

I really hate damarques, he's such an arrogant prick who thinks he's on some sort of moral high ground and for what reason? Exactly. Nothing. I really want to see Bisping knock him on his ass, it'll knock him down a peg or three, which is what he severely needs if he hopes to win. Pierce just doesn't seem to have any will to compete or be there. He should get out of there before he ends up getting hurt.

Winslow, he's already hurt. But he's still a whiner.

Bisping, Isnt really that great hes coasted through allot of his fights and got a couple lucky breaks by the judges.. Henderson is gonna destroy him imho.. on the Damarques thing hes a good fighter and I wld rather have Bisping get knocked on his ass, hes been the real arrogant one on the show if you havent noticed..

I like Dent, his performance wasn't great but theres just something about him, (even if he did ruin my predicted 6-2 scorline).
Pierce really fucked me off with his attitude, staph sucks but he didn't show any heart the and every season theres someone who ends up quitting which sucks coz theres a thousand guys like me who'd give anything for that shot.
As far as Damarques goes, good fighter but an arrogant prick, Bisping hasnt coasted but he got lucky in the Hammil fight (I was there, he lost that fight)
