Strikeforce Challengers V: Woodley vs. Bear 11.20.09!

-Live from the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

-Broadcast LIVE on Showtime.

-Mauro Ranallo, Stephen Quadros and Pat Miletich are the announcers.

-This is the last Challengers event of 2009.

  • MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT - Kevin Casey (2-1) vs. Chad Vance (7-3):

    ROUND ONE: Chuck Wolfe is the official. And here we go with the first fight of the night. They come out, Casey looks for a clinch, and they lock it up and work for position. To the cage they go, Good trip by Vance, but Casey gets the back, has the hooks and flattens Vance out. Casey in control, lands some punches as he wants the choke. He looks to have the choke, goes back to punches, and Vance taps. Vance is not happy with his performance.

    THE RESULT: Kevin Casey via RD1 (1:41) Submission

    Quadros is with Casey, and he thanks Vance for taking the fight. He says it was an easy fight for him, but Vance was stronger than he thought. He took care of business, and is ready for anyone.




  • LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante (7-2) vs. Aaron Rosa (12-2):

    ROUND ONE: The official is Chuck Wolfe and Rosa will have a 4-inch reach. Fight begins as they touch, Rosa with a flurry and Feijao takes him to the cage in the clinch. Knees by Feijao, Rosa answers back with knees of his own. They continue to work along the cage, Feijao with control and takes Rosa down. Lands a few good shots, but Rosa back to his feet. More knees from Feijao, Rosa with under hooks, and more knees to the things of Rosa by Feijao. A good knee to the gut by Feijao, keeping control against the cage. Crowd doesn't like this and they get warned to work. Feijao looks for a trip, and then throws knees. They finally get separated after doing next to nothing. 1-2 combo by Rosa, knees by Feijao and back to the cage in the clinch they go. Feijao is content to pin him against the cage, works foot stomps now and nullifies the reach of Rosa. Some knees and stomps by Rosa, Feijao drops down and tries to take him down, and fails. Rosa switches position and has Feijao pinned, and the round will end.

    SCORECARD: Feijao 10-9.

    ROUND TWO: Round two begins and they circle, Rosa looks for the jab, light combo lands for Rosa. Leg kick follows, another. Looping left by Rosa after missing a right. Feijao takes Rosa to the cage, Rosa with some body shots as Feijao works the knees. They separate as Rosa shoves Feijao away. Right by Feijao as Rosa came in for a combo. Jab and a low kick by Rosa. Flying knee by Feijao to the gut and then a takedown. Feijao in the guard and landing some good shots. Feijao with a few body shots, he works him around and towards the cage. Short elbow by Feijao, and he gets warned for that because that is NOT allowed in Strikeforce. They get stood up, Feijao caught Rosa as he shot in with a knee, unleashes and the fight is stopped!

    THE RESULT: Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante via RD2 (3:25) TKO

    Quadros is with Feijao, who says the start to the fight was deliberately slow. He then says the 2nd was better, and that this is what he trained for.




  • WELTERWEIGHT BOUT - Erik Apple (10-1) vs. Bobby Voelker (20-7):

    ROUND ONE: The official is Al Wichgers. They come out and throw wildly right away and Voelker gets dropped/ Apple is all over him, to the ground and good shots landed by Apple, but Voelker gets to his feet and Apple rushes him to the cage. Knees by Voelker, Apple looks for a trip, can't get it. Body shots by Apple, knee by Voelker. They separate, Apple with a knee and the clinch to the cage. Apple wants the takedown, Voelker keeps on his feet and they trade knees. Voelker catches a push kick and lands a left, but Apple takes him to the ground. In half guard against the cage, works for position and both trade, but Apple works the body. Voelker gets to his feet, they trade again and Apple getting the better of it. To the cage, Apple controlling and works the knees. Voelker gets a trip and gets him down and into the guard. Apple works the half butterfly guard, good lefts by Voelker and then starts to open up on him! Voelker in half guard, then into full guard as Apple tries to hold him close. He postures up, stands and lands some more shots as the round ends.

    SCORECARD: CLOSE round there. I will go Apple 10-9 due to the clean knockdown, but very close, could be even.

    ROUND TWO: Round two begins and let's see if they have anything left. Apple comes out throwing wildly again, they trade and finally clinch and go to the cage. Voelker gets the takedown, both look tired, but Voelker works from half guard and is landing good shots. To the feet they go, they separate and Voelker CATCHES Apple and he is down, crumbling to the mat! Voelker starts to ground and pound and Apple is out of it and it is over!

    As we get a replay of the action, Apple is on the mat and being attended too.

    THE RESULT: Bobby Voelker via RD2 (1:23) TKO

    Quadros is with Voelker. He says he loves the people. In the first round he says he was never hurt, wobbled, but not hurt. He says Apple lost his heart at the end of round one, and knew he could finish the fight on round two.




  • WOMEN'S 135 BOUT - Kim Couture (1-1) vs. Kerry Vera (1-0):

    ROUND ONE: The official is Al Wichgers, and Couture will have a 4-inch reach advantage. They come out, and they start to trade right away. They trade again, clinch and knees by Vera. They separate, Couture pops Vera with a jab. Couture in with the combo, against the cage they go and punches by Vera land as Couture looks for a takedown. Elbow and a combo by Vera, very nice. They separate off of that, leg kick by Vera. Another and a combo by Couture. They lock it up, right by Couture and they separate. Great jab by both ladies, looping left by Vera, backs Couture up, and Couture looks tired already. Couture misses a right, Vera clinches and to the cage they go. Couture wants a takedown, Vera lands short shots and then Vera LIGHTS her up against the cage, Couture has no defense, covers up her right eye and it is all over!

    Kim is down and being attended too, it looks as if her right eye is where the main damage is.

    THE RESULT: Kerry Vera via RD1 (3:35) TKO

    Quadros is with Kerry Vera. She says that Couture woke her up and she just over took her. She'll fight anyone they tell her too.




  • WELTERWEIGHT BOUT - Tyron Woodley (4-0) vs. Rudy Bears (10-3):

    ROUND ONE: The official is Al Wichgers. And here we go with the main event of the evening. They come out, no touch and they dance around a bit. Both a bit tentative early on, they both throw and miss, clinch and body shots by Woodley as they go to the cage. Woodley bull rushes bears down, and into the half guard. Woodley has him against the cage, Woodley landing a few shots as he is more concerned with position. Gets mount on Bears, who looks to escape, and they end up on the feet as Bears had a good escape. A knee and a right by Woodley, misses the wild right and then checks a high kick from Bears and then takes him down once again. Head and arm triangle choke by Woodley from half guard, taking his time, Woodley into side control and Bears has to tap! T-WOOD~!

    THE RESULT: Tyron Woodley via RD1 (2:52) Submission

    Quadros is with T-WOOD. Woodley says that Bears is an amazing guy, a good fighter, has a good camp and he likes him. Woodley says he thought he had a triangle, but Bears got out. When asked about the title shot, he says he wants to keep climbing the ladder. Strikeforce treats him well and he will do what he has to do. He puts over Jake Shields and says he feels he matches up well with him.




    -Mauro Ranallo, Stephen Quadros and Pat Miletich run down the show, and since Strikeforce hates preliminary bouts, the show ends about 50-minutes early.

    Can anybody comfirm this? Didnt Randy and Kim get A divorce? If so was Randy in her corner still tonight? I dont get this channel I believe Showtime.

    this being said brandon veras wife the chick who knocked out kim coture is fucking hot, with all do respect to brandon she seems like that badass chick who can break your dick off in a kinky wild way
