That was quite the let down. Yea rashad won, but no knockouts and barely any punches. I mean good for rashad cause I wanted him too but geez no smack talk afterwards either...sigh..that was awful

I don't know why Rashad gets so much hate. He's a very good fighter, and comports himself very well. He's classy, sportsmanlike in the Octagon, and very talented. I'm a fan, and have been for a long time. I'm so very glad he beat up balloonhead Jackson. I don't think he can beat Rua, but he definitely beat Jackson, and handily. Wish he could have knocked him out, and in a 5 round match, he probably would have (or at least choked him out). Anyway, congratulations to Evans.

I'd enjoy these reports more if you had a pic of Arianne Celeste between rounds.
Posted By: AUSSIE FAN (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 01:25 AM
i swear nobody is ever pleased after a fight lol everyone is always mad yet they keep going back lol.
Tonights card was a very solid card, i'll admit the main event was just decent but it wasn't as horrible as everyone is making it out to be.
Posted By: bullfrog24 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 01:32 AM
Fight started out great, but i figured if Rashad was to win, he would exactly what he did in the fight..rounds 2 and 3 = Major let down. O and btw rashad has absolutely no chin, Page barely touched evans and evans said "i went numb for a second"

It seems that Team Greg Jackson's motto is to "Lay and Prey"

i dont think it was a letdown if u have watched these two fight before this was exactly the kind of fight to expect rashad was doin what he does best and rampage was havin trouble with it rampage got ahold of rashad and almost ended the fight but rashad has heart i think it was a good technical fight like 2 pple playin chess and im all the talk before the fight was just talk yall foos watch to much wrestling and actually think they ae gonna lose their emotions in real fight thats why they are professionals and we just critics...

Once again, if you don't like MMA, then don't watch MMA. The Rashad-Rampage fight was nice to watch. Rashad used his strength to win a fight and get a title shot. Stop all of the negative comments.

To quote the Pro rasslin fans... it's all a work.
Dana White is the new Vince McMahon

Judging by the negative comments I would say there are still plenty of mouth breathers and knuckle draggers out there that don't understand the sport of MMA. It was a solid card with a few nice surprises. If you want to see a brawl go to your local drinking hole and start one. Rashad represents the next generation and new breed of MMA fighters just like GSP and Silva. It's not that Rampage has gotten worse it's that all the next gen MMA fighters are getting that much better. It would have been nice to see it go 5 rounds. Boxing by the way is still a great sport, there is no reason you can't like both MMA and Boxing. If Boxing was run like the UFC we would have had Pacquiao vs Mayweather already.

Guest #7412 u r ABSOLUTELY CORRECT...In all honesty this is the 1st UFC PPV I have ever ordered and it was a good card from top to bottom....from seeing Diego getting beat to the co-main event being better than what I thought itwould be....Rashad played to his strengths and won the fight as any fighter should do....Do what ur good at and u should win....Stop hating people
Posted By: Fern (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 02:24 AM
Rashad fought a picture perfect Randy Couture fight. He pressed him for rnd1 and part of rnd2 and wore him out. The he started getting take downs and ground and pounding him. He got tagged a bit because Rampage is dangerous and can do that to anyone. But this is why wrestling is so important to fighters. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make Rashad a bitch. It just makes him a smarter fighter. For the record, not once did he "lay and pray." When he got Rampage down he was constantly pounding away. Kos lays and prays.

Rashad won by lay 'n pray. Brilz got screwed. Tonight sucked.

Question: Did "Rashad" actually gave "Rampage" his Snuggie, Post-Figth?
Posted By: Fear_Inc. (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 03:01 AM
Havent read a single post, all main events should go to 5 rounds or dont bother.
Posted By: V56 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 03:25 AM
Rashad proved himself and the UFC put on another good card. The Brilz Nogueira decision was messed up.
Posted By: Guest#2158 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 03:31 AM
When Rashad Evans fights against the cage, uses takedowns when necessary, and throws punches when he feels they'll land he's a bitch. When Randy Couture does it he's an American Hero and the greatest fighter ever.

Kinda glad I bit the lip and not ordered this ppv, it seemed boring from start to finish.

It's takes a person with real class and respect for others to not say "I told you so" .. So I'll just type it instead, I told you so bitches!!

I knew this was gonna happen - a Evans victory via decision. great fight

This is why you shouldnt buy UFC PPVs. They havent had a good event in months.

Rashad has been really lucky in his past 2 fights that after he got rocked neither Thiago Silva or Rampage went in for the kill when he was still reeling.
I don't think he'll be so lucky against Shogun.
Great fighter but his chin is going to set him back when he fights guys with a real killer instinct.

If you dont like MMA,dont watch it,you wont be missed by anyone, believe me.
Seriously...there is this sport called K-1,if you want to see what real striking is about. Its not a shame to leave MMA for K-1,K-1 is much more exciting on a regular basis, with much more stacked cards. I like it more than MMA,and Im a big fan of the ground game.

It seems that Team Greg Jackson's motto is to "Lay and Prey"
Posted By: wolvie316 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 01:37 AM
//////////////
Or it is to have the best and most successful fighters in the world... If anyone thinks GSP "Lay and Prey" then you are a dipshit that does not understand MMA is So much more then a stand and punch each other in the face sport.

Little Nog was the clear winner. Screw all the redneck retards who boo like the decision is his fault
Posted By: jam (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 08:37 AM
Rashad really has no skills, thats why he had to surround himself with the best trainers and motivational speakers in the game to get the edge over an obviously stiff and not ready rampage, and when rampage barely touched him, he was down and flailing his arms for about 7 seconds while rampage pounded him, if rampage got 1 or 2 more punches on him before rashad started grabbing his shorts you would have seen a much different ending.
Posted By: Skeptic (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 09:01 AM
O and btw rashad has absolutely no chin,
---------------------------------------
Rampage hit him in the temple, not the chin.

I'd enjoy these reports more if you had a pic of Arianne Celeste between rounds.

Once again, if you don't like MMA, then don't watch MMA. The Rashad-Rampage fight was nice to watch. Rashad used his strength to win a fight and get a title shot. Stop all of the negative comments.
Posted By: Guest#7412 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 01:56 AM
My favorite part of MMA is when I guy pushes another guy up against the fence for 2 and 1/2 rounds. So I was happy as a pig in shit.
Posted By: thesteve (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 09:48 AM
I like the high and mighty, self espousing MMA fans who have to defend shitty main event fights. Don't tell me that it was great because of the science of the fight, or the strategy. When those two had talked for over a year about that fight, and to go out and give that performance...it's just shallow and mundane. And Rashad gets a title shot based on that fight? Lame.
Sure, Evans won. Nobody deserved to win that fight. More than half of the fifteen minutes were spent just grappling against the cage, and I used grappling loosely there. There was literally nothing happening for the duration of that fight. Even using the Couture/Vera fight as an example, and least Randy implemented some dirty boxing and really inflicted some damage during those exchanges. Rashad, literally, hugged Jackson for almost fifteen minutes.
Rampage came out and laid an egg, he did absolutely nothing the entire fight, but Rashad BARELY did any more.
Fight should've been a draw. Nobody deserves a win that will be viewed as huge with a fight like that. Rashad controlled the action, which was easy because there was no action.
Dana needs to light a fire under his main event guys. Too often now they come out and fight tentative and scared, and the public will sour on the sport with fights like these.
Posted By: Guest#5318 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 09:59 AM
letdown of the night was the bad decision of the Brillz fight. Have to wonder what these judges are doing at ringside, cause it's not watching fights.
Posted By: Fuzzy (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:14 AM
Card sucked. Self involved MMA and UFC fans will try to say differently, but that event sucked. Of course, when you hype up anything that much it is bound to be a let down, but the main event was on an entirely different level of disappointment.
Nearly fifteen minutes of Rashad pressing Rampage against the cage. Inflicting no damage, pressing no action. I like Rashad, but jesus does he fight not to lose all the time. Never fights to win. Always dancing around scared to really get involved.
And don't tell me that's a good strategy. What GSP does is strategy. He moves, takes no damage BUT INFLICTS DAMAGE. Rashad does nothing. Outside of one punch in the first round that caught Jackson off balance, he did nothing.
Rampage wasn't any better. He'll retire now. Looks like he has no fire, no desire to win.
For a grudge match, you're expecting a Chuck/Tito or Mir/Lesnar type finish where someone just overwhelms their opponent. This fight had none of that. It had the two of them hugging against a cage for nearly fifteen minutes.
I wish they had stalling penalties like amateur wrestling. Rashad would never get into the third round, because he would get DQ'd every freaking time.
Posted By: Guest#0277 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:17 AM
Don't tell me that main event was good. It's was boring, uninspired MMA. No one deserved to win that piece of trash.
They always pull title shots away from people when they give bad performances, Dana needs to take Rashad's #1 contendership away. That fight was a joke. Did absolutely nothing to win, and just fought not to lose. Rashad and these main event guys with strong wrestling backgrounds know all they have to do is go the distance and they'll win a boring decision, get their money, and run.
Posted By: Guest#4366 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:22 AM
Rashad has absolutely NO CHIN.
A gassed Thiago barely touches him in the 3rd rnd and he goes down, Rampage merely glances him and Rashad goes down.
Fucking follow up on it! I don't get why both of them waited and let him catch his breath.....
Posted By: Guest#7284 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:32 AM
will this hurt the A Team ticket sales?
Posted By: Bryan Jones (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:34 AM
Did you guys think that just because there was a lot of emotion going in to the fight that all of a sudden Evans was just going to abandon is usual fight plan just trade bombs with a guy who wins most of his matches by KO? On what planet would that have been a good idea?
Additionally, Rampage was covered in ring rust and gassed after the first round. In that respect it was an uneven fight. I'm not surprised Evans won by decision.
The only thing I agree with in this cavalcade of negativity is that all main events should be 5 rounds, regardless of whether or not there's a title on the line.

Great card - especially as the Brits won their bouts - with a slightly disappointing main event and a MASSIVE bullshit moment in Nog getting a wholly undeserved decision.
Evans fought a good smart fight, but I was still disappointed as the fight felt kind of flat. I hope there's a rematch and Rampage gets his shit together - 14 months out is a long time, and I really feel he held back a lot because of that.
As for Brilz, the man was absolutely robbed tonight. Nog got the decision because the judges got starstruck, plain and simple. Brilz was a class act after the fight though, I hope his performance allows him to go places in the UFC.

Shogun is going to murder Rashad.
WAR SHOGUN!!!
Posted By: Dragon (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 11:48 AM
actually if you watched the fight in the 3rd rd Evans CLEARLY knocked him self out a little but driving his head accidentally in to Rampages knee before Rampage hit him. And Jackson couldnt finish him he missed every single punch after that one lucky shot. Anyway who felt Evans was the going to lose clearly doesnt watch enough MMA, especially those on the roundtable, the wrestler will almost always beat the boxer. Evans i am uncertain can beat Rua, but you never know, Evans will have train differently than he did for Quinton. Found it weird how Rampage was "booked" as the heel in the feud, and yet they had the fight in his neck of the woods, to have the fans advatage, which I guess is like Bret Hart facing Shawn Michaels in Canada lol during bret's heel run with the hart Foudnation stable.

I thought this was called MIXED martial arts....not wrestler vs street fighter. Neither of these morons deserve a title shot. Rashad needs to go to TNA with that wrestling shit and Rampage needs to quit doing movies, making him soft.
Posted By: CM Wolf (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 01:11 PM
People get really hyped when they hear fighters trash talk but truth is a fighter, especially one fighting a top ranked fighter, no matter how much "bad blood" is involved is gonna stick to what he does best to get the win and back up his words..... Rashad knew he'd be faster, knew the 14 month lay off would make jackson less able, and worked it well..... So the let down comes with the hope and expectation of a KO, but the fight was alright non the less
The co-main event is shady though..... and really it's starting to happen more and more, used to be every year there would be one maybe two bad decisions, now it seems almost every other UFC event there's something bad decision wise going on and it some times screams of "putting a fighter in line for the match up they want"

This is real fighting, no need for heel vs face because people follow who they like no matter who they fight.

don't know why the fans love rampage so much. ultimate fighter showed him to be a bully and an asshole.
Posted By: Guest#7378 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 03:38 PM
Rashad fought a good fighty, Rampage should have capitalised when he had Rashad rocked in the third. Bring on Shogun vs. Rashad!
I'll add ny voice to the call for 5 round main events, because I REALLY think that match would have had a finish with another five minutes and given us the KO we all wanted.
Huge win for Hathaway, career changing performance by Brilz, Dong Hyun Kim should be on the main card next time and Bisping is back looking to face a name fighter and move back into contention. Howsabout Bisping-Marquadt?
Where now for Sanchez, Lil Nog and Amir?
Posted By: Chris Crowing (Registered) on May 30, 2010 at 04:00 PM
Lil Nog seriously lost that fight, such a horrible judging done by the judges in that fight. As for Rashad, he won like I figured he would, but not really too impressive. Really, for all the hate these two have(had?) for each other, it sure didn't come off like that in the fight. Definitely glad I didn't pay for this.
Posted By: Butters4Prez (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 04:02 PM
Wow. You gave Rashad that last round? Really? Please don't ever become a judge.
Posted By: RobertMenn (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 06:25 PM
Don't get me wrong. I thought the main event was boring but it is retarded to blame rashad. He wins. That's like saying the baltimore ravins are horrible because they have a conservitive offence even though they win 11 games a year and there gameplan fits their personel perfectly.
Posted By: Guest#8033 (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 07:30 PM
Good enough card, lotsa underdogs/lesser known fighters coming out on top.
GREAT performance by Rashad, that was a sick game plan. He has a really weak chin though. Don't think he can do anything about that-- but he does need to work on his power, so he can actually damage people with his explosiveness.
Brilz was robbed. :(Lil Nog looks even older than his brother.
Posted By: b (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 07:58 PM
Ramage is a true asshole and a sore loser. Rashad should have talked shit to him after he won but he was a gentelman. Rampage fights like an old man he is really slow. Only thing he has is good boxing, not enough in ufc. So haters don't hate Rashad..He won u didnt.
Posted By: ryan rasheed (Guest) on May 30, 2010 at 10:00 PM
Ramage talked all tht shitt but he couldn't back it up ..he is jst a big mouth. Rashad did..

I don't get how people can say this card was boring just because the main event was somewhat lacklustre, some of them haven't even watched it.
ALL the main card fights were really good, (with the exception of the main which was merely average), particularly Brilz vs Nog which was a GREAT fight with the entirely wrong decision.
All the other fights delivered great performances and excellent striking - what more can you ask for?
Also, Rampage does not suck based on one rusty performance...educate yourselves a little or don't fucking comment.
