Hey 411 readers, thanks for joining 411's live MMA coverage tonight!
So the next few weeks will be testing the strength of every fight fans DVR's as we've got multiple cards from the UFC almost weekly from now until mid October, weekly Bellator cards, the odd HDNet stuff, Mayweather vs Ortiz for you boxing folks and a whole lotta love from other organizations. The fall is looking pretty stacked and frankly my loves, I'm damn excited for it. Actually I almost plotzed when I found out that December 30th would feature a fight between two of my favorite fighters, Lesnar and Overeem. As I told the boss, Mr Larry Csonka, I won't be covering that fight as I will be too drunk and emotional to get through it...
...so how about that Nick Diaz fellow?
You know who is probably mad as hell at this nutcase for blowing an opportunity that just about everyone else in the "dying cancer patient" (as King Mo called it) Strikeforce organization has clamored for?
Anywho...I didn't come here to tell you that so without further dudes, let's make with the fussin' and a fightin'.
PRELIMINARY MATCHES ON HDNET FIGHTS:

As I watch the intro for the Showtime fights and see folks like Fedor, Henderson, Nick Diaz and Jason Miller I find myself wondering, why exactly hasn't anyone bothered to edit the darn intro video and make it current. OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Daniel Cormier by KO at 3:56 of round 1.
I'm happy for Dan, sad for Silva. And while I'm not trying to be all sour grapes about this I just want to point out that Silva had to get through Fedor while Cormier's journey started with Jeff Monson…Jeff Monson, the guy who M-1 thinks is just beatable enough to book against Fedor in November…just sayin'.

OFFICIAL RESULT: WINNER – Josh Barnett by submssion (head-&-arm triangle) at 4:28 of round 1.
Is it just me or does Josh Barnett win the same way EVERY time? Well if ain't broke, etc, etc.
So Barnett vs Cormier is how this saga ends…meh. I mean it will probably be a lovely match and the winner will most likely be very close to title shot against the UFC champ but I'm having some difficulty mustering much excitement for this particular match. Ah well, such is life.
I enjoyed this event. Good fights but I enjoyed most watching another glass-jaw Gracie and Bigfoot get KTFO. Cant depend soley on your Gracie BJJ to win a MMA fight. Point proven, thank you very much KingMo and DCormier.

Barnett vs Bigfoot would have been a better match to promote, but that's the thing with tournaments.

"And while I'm not trying to be all sour grapes about this I just want to point out that Silva had to get through Fedor"
The guy who just got destroyed by a 185/205er?

Awesome!!!

Great fight night! Good job Strikeforce.
I'm not so sure Rockhold won that. Souza destroyed the first 2 rounds, then it was kind of even.
Congrats to Cormier for stepping up & showing he belongs. Very excited for the finals! When is it??
Posted By: matrix1004 (Guest) on September 11, 2011 at 04:48 AM
Great night of fights! Really shocked by Rockhold, very impressed that he was able to hang with & outpoint Jacare. Impressed with DC as well, thought he'd get the nod over Bigfoot on points but the KO was sweet.

Cormier Kills people....DEAD!
Give it 1 more fight (if/when he destroys barnett) before Cormier is in the UFC in a bigtime fight.
Posted By: Guest#8829 (Guest) on September 11, 2011 at 08:32 AM
I was impressed with this night of fights with the exception of Round 1 of Romero/Cavalcante.
WTG Cormier, I thought Silva was going to squash him.

I don't understand Diaz getting another fight, a co-main event one no less, after blowing off two - TWO - press days without a solid reason.
It's like rewarding your kids with ice cream after they break your TV.

No, it's just you...

So fighters give Barnett their back and/or neck and he's not supposed to take it?
Posted By: Nick (Guest) on September 12, 2011 at 10:55 AM
I enjoyed this event. Good fights but I enjoyed most watching another glass-jaw Gracie
Posted By: TheR (Guest) on September 11, 2011 at 01:10 AM
I wouldn't say 'glass jaw'... the guy was hit behind the ear/back of the head and he was hit HARD! It doesn't take much to knock you senseless when hit in that area man.
Posted By: DB (Guest) on September 18, 2011 at 01:55 PM
Funny how NOBODY gives BARNETT TREMENDOUS CREDITS for being simply The BEST HEAVY in the world NOT named CAIN VELASQUEZ RIGHT NOW
Velasquez vs Barnett IS the money match at HW and No One ELSE !
